The Main Screen

The main screen is the center of the program. From here, you can go to all the other options. This screen is shown at the launch of the program. The layout is similar to the "classic" mode in old versions (version 3.x):



On the left you can select the action you want to perform. For the actions on the left, you also have to select a back-up or neighborhood in the "Perform left action on:". Select the back-up or neighborhoood there. You can see the name, date and time when it was created in the "Quick Info" box. If you want to see other details of the neighborhood, choose the "View details of..." action. At the right-bottom of the left half there are some more options ("Refresh a back-up" etc) for which you don't have to select a back-up or neighborhood first. Select the action and click the "Continue..." button to start whatever you chose. Here's a list of the actions:

Action Does
View details of... Shows details of a back-up or neighborhood (Chapter 4).
Change details of... Changes names and/or comments of a back-up or neighborhood (Chapter 4).
Backup to... Creates a back-up on the selected back-up slot (Chapter 5).
Restore from... Puts the selected back-up back into the game as neighborhood (Chapter 6).
Copy from... Copies/swaps the selected back-up or neighborhood to/with another (Chapter 7).
Move from... Moves/swaps the selected back-up or neighborhood to/with another (Chapter 7).
Delete... Deletes the selected back-up or neighborhood (Chapter 8).
*Reset/Create empty... Resets the selected back-up or neighborhood, or creates a new (empty) one (Chapter 9, Chapter 10).
Repair... Repairs the selected back-up or neighborhood if it's broken (Chapter 11).
*Activate... Activates the selected neighborhood (Chapter 12).
**Rezone... Rezone areas in the selected neighborhood (Chapter 13).
Action Does
Refresh a back-up Refreshes a back-up from a neighborhood (Chapter 14).
Copy a Lot Copies a lot from one back-up or neighborhood to another (Chapter 15).
Copy a Family Copies a family from one back-up or neighborhood to the import function in The Sims (Chapter 16).
Install a lot/family Installs a downloaded lot (to a selected back-up or neighborhood) or family (to the import function of The Sims. (Chapter 17).
Family Index Loads an index of the families in your back-ups and neighborhoods (Chapter 18).
Convert old Back-ups Converts old back-ups made with TNHH version 2.x or 3.x to back-ups for version 4.x (Chapter 19).
* An expansion pack or The Sims Deluxe must be installed for this to be enabled.
** The Sims Unleashed must be installed for this to be enabled.

Besides that, there are some buttons on the right for some other options like visiting the website. Here's what all of them do:

Button Does
View Readme... Shows you the readme file.
About... Shows you the About box with details of The Neighborhood Handler.
Read the Manual... Loads this manual in your default internet browser.
The Sims Zone Loads The Sims Zone in your default browser.
E-mail ChEeTaH Starts your e-mail program to email ChEeTaH.
Join the TNHH Group Lets you join the TNHH group for news and updates of The Neighborhood Handler.
Website Loads the website in your default browser.
Run The Sims Starts The Sims using the preferences set in the Options screen.
Donate Loads The Sims Zone's donation page so you can donate money to The Sims Zone and The Neighborhood Handler using PayPal or your credit-card. PLEASE Donate if possible! The Sims Zone needs a lot of money to pay for the hosting costs (also of The Neighborhood Handler), the more is donated the better. Any bit of money that's left after paying our bills will go to a charity so your money will never be wasted!
Options... Takes you to the Options screen to set your preferences (Chapter 20).
Quit The Neighborhood Handler Closes The Neighborhood Handler and returns to Windows.
