241. Bustin' Out Released
Written on Tuesday 16 December 2003 at 13:15 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Today, EA shipped The Sims Bustin' Out on three consoles: the PS2, GameCube and X-Box. The GBA edition has been out for 2 weeks already, and this version went gold last week. The game should be in stores soon, if it isn't already. EAGames.com has posted a few movies of Bustin' Out, a Sim's worst week, a "Sizzle" trailer and a clip with the creators doing their thing, all of which you can find right here. The last two of those have been spotted before, but you can now still see them in high or low resolution. QuickTime required. If you want to read the full press release about the shipping of the game, click here.

242. Bustin' Out Last Diary
Written on Tuesday 16 December 2003 at 11:47 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
The last designer's diary of Bustin' Out has been posted at GameSpot. We can read what Mike Perry (who also did the previous diaries) has to say about the console-specific features, i.e. the online mode on the PS2, the GameCube/GBA connectivity, and the HDTV support for the X-Box. Here's a little snippet about the last mentioned feature:
"HDTV is the way television was meant to be seen. All versions of The Sims Bustin' Out have really excellent all-new graphics and special effects, but only the Xbox has native 720p widescreen HDTV support. In HDTV mode, you can play The Sims Bustin' Out with smokin' graphics so detailed they are even better than DVD movies. The colorfully psychedelic dance floor of Clubb Rubb looks awesome in HDTV."
This part also comes with several new screenshots, as usual. Those can be found, which you can view here. You can read the article at this page. As the game will be released today (in the US anyway), this is the last designer's diary for Bustin' Out. For the previous issues, click the following links to our news posts about them: Part 3, Part 2, and Part 1.

243. Bustin' Out Newsflash
Written on Friday 12 December 2003 at 20:38 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Bustin' Out on GBA has been released in Europe today, and the release date for the consoles has been pushed back a week (only in Europe), to 19 December (which is next week). There have been several reviews of the GBA version already, which will soon lead to a review index of that game (just like Makin' Magic - sorry for the delay of that) at this site. You can find reviews of the GBA version at GameNikki (9/10), GamePro (4/5), IGN (8/10) and GameSpot (8.1/10). With the console versions going gold earlier this week, there are also some new screenshots and articles about that. You can find some new screens at WorthPlaying. IGN has posted an article about some of the characters you'll meet in the game right here. If you want to know more about the online functionality on the PS2 version, you might want to check out a new article at GameSpot (with a few screenshots) that covers that. Enjoy that right here. For the interested people: the release dates. The GBA version has been released in both the USA (2 December) and Europe (today). The console versions (PS2, GameCube and X-Box) will be released next week. 16 December in the US, and 19 December in Europe to be precise. All just in time for the holiday season.

244. SimDay
Written on Friday 12 December 2003 at 00:34 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Slightly late, but not too late: the report about this week's SimDay. There isn't too much though: the weekly chat (which has already started at the time of writing), a Community Update, and 2 other things. The first of these is an interview with JudHudson from SimPrograms. Finally there are 15 new screenshots of Bustin' Out on the consoles. This game will be released tomorrow (Europe) or next week (US). You can take a peek at this page. That's all for this week already.

245. Bustin' Out Gone Gold
Written on Sunday 7 December 2003 at 20:33 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
The new console version of The Sims, Bustin' Out, has gone gold for PS2, GameCube and X-Box. The CDs are being pressed, and soon will ship to Europe (Release: 12 December), and the US (Release: 16 December). In Bustin' Out your Sims will be able to leave the house, and visit other areas on their scooter, car, or whatever they earned in the Get-A-Life mode. There will also be two-player support again, but on the PS2 version you can take it online. The GameCube version adds connectivity with the GBA version, which was released recently, and X-Box players get HDTV support which means better graphics. Of course there will be a free mode play, that we know from The Sims on the PC, as well. The rating is "T" (Teen). If you want to see a bunch of (new posted) screenshots, visit IGN or GameSpot. Expect the game in your local store soon!

246. Bustin' Out (GBA) Released
Written on Wednesday 3 December 2003 at 13:05 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
The Sims Bustin' Out for the GameBoy Advance has been released, and the first review has already popped up: IGN Pocket has posted it, and given the game an 8 out of 10 score. Here's their final conclusion:
"The Game Boy Advance version of The Sims: Bustin' Out isn't quite as extravagant as the upcoming console games because of the standard limitations of the Game Boy platform. But as comparatively limited as the GBA version is, it's still a well-designed, casual game, and it definitely fits the bill for an on-the-go version of one of the most popular game franchises around."
The whole preview can be read here. Some new screenshots of the game can be found at GameSpot: click here to see those. You can read the press release about the game shipping at the official site, on this page to be precise. Note that the box shot shown there currently is wrong (The Sims Deluxe instead of the GBA box).

247. Bustin' Out GBA: Earlier than expected
Written on Monday 24 November 2003 at 01:04 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
With the official site opening up a new section for Bustin' Out, Maxis has also posted the final release dates for Bustin' Out on the consoles. The GBA and PS2 versions will come a bit earlier than expected: 2 December this year, instead of 16 December like on the X-Box and GameCube. In Europe all the versions will be released at the same time. And instead of being later than the US (as usual), Europe is a bit earlier on the last 2 consoles. The game will be released at 12 December 2003 - on all platforms. The GBA version has also gone gold already, while the other editions should follow soon. The same site has also posted a new fansite kit for Bustin' Out, which you can download from this page. If you want to read the complete press release about Bustin' Out going gold on the GBA, click here. Thanks to both ToTheGame and SimsZone.de.

248. Bustin' Out Preview
Written on Tuesday 11 November 2003 at 16:08 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
IGN has posted a preview of Bustin' Out on the consoles a few days ago. Besides discussing Create A Sim, the campaign mode and some technical things, they also discuss the special features of each version:
"PS2, GameCube and Xbox owners are each getting some unique features. The option for a 720p display will be available for the Xbox. PS2 owners will get an online option where they can host a "Sims Weekend" event where everything that you've unlocked in your game will be open for you and other players to enjoy online. Players come over to your town and trade items and other goodies. It's basically a cool interactive way to cheat and get items that you otherwise wouldn't have unlocked. Think Animal Crossing but without the bizarre looking critters and leaves. The connectivity between GameCube and GBA allows you to buy an arcade cabinet in the console game that your sim can walk up to and "play." When he or she does, the GBA game then becomes a minigame player that lets you run through up to eight mini games if you have the GBA version of Bustin Out and 4 if don't have the GBA cartridge. The money you earn in your minigame session will be transferred to your GameCube character's account. While you're playing your minigame on GBA, your GameCube sim is standing at the arcade doing his or her "videogaming" animation."
There are many comparisons to the PC version of the game, but less to the console version that's been out for a while too. Besides this preview on this page, there are also two new pieces of art in the Bustin' Out GBA section at IGN. You can see them right here.

249. Bustin' Out Preview, Shots and Movies
Written on Saturday 1 November 2003 at 14:51 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
GameSpot has checked out Bustin' Out on the PlayStation 2, and posted a review with some screenshots and 4 movies. They look into the Muliplayer (online) mode, the smoother graphics (comparing it to the other 2 consoles), the soundtrack and the Single Player 'Get-A-Life' mode:
"The game will once again follow the standard goal-oriented structure the series is known for. However, the pacing has been tweaked quite a bit. Whereas you had a rather lengthy to-do list before being able to flee the nest in the previous game, Bustin' Out's pacing has been tweaked considerably and should have you out of the house pretty quickly. The game starts out by toying with your emotions in what will be an ongoing form of mental torture, as land baron Malcolm Landgrabb appears to repossess your scooter with a diabolical-looking teleporter rifle. You should get used to the abuse as Malcolm Landgrabb will appear anytime you arrive at a location where there's something remotely cool--and he'll promptly snatch it away! Getting back your stuff and thwarting his evil practices are one of the major bullet points on your to-do list."
There are many comparisons to last year's "The Sims" on the consoles. GameSpot's posted this preview with 18 new screenshots. Those can be found here, while the 3-page preview starts here. Finally, there are 4 new movies for GameSpot Complete members...

250. Bustin' Out Screenshots
Written on Friday 31 October 2003 at 20:04 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
There are 2 sites with new screenshots of Bustin' Out. The first one is our affiliate SimsZone.de which has posted a special about the game after visiting a PR event in Germany. The special is in German, but the screenshots (for both the PS2/GameCube/X-Box versions as well as the GBA version) are nice enough to post a link. You can find the special right here. Click on the several "Weiterlesen" links to read and see more. Then there are several screenshots coming from GameSpot. First of all there are 5 GBA shots. A few of them seem to show some mini-games. You can check them out at this page. There are also 5 new ones for the other consoles' versions. One shows a car, another a happy Sim (because a kiss was 'dreamy'), some Sims working out and dancing, and finally a Sim in bathing suit in some kind of machine... It's all right here.
