671. New poll
Written on Thursday 10 July 2003 at 02:39 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Last week we asked you how much you've spent on The Sims series so far. We come to the conclusion an average of about $140 is spent on The Sims per person. 228 people voted, of which 25% (57 people) spent $100 to $200 on The Sims. Second are those who haven't spent a dime on it, with 51 votes (22%). All the other results are at this page. This week we want to know what you think of the utilities Maxis has made in the past 3 years. Tell us by voting on the right of every page at The Sims Zone, or go to this page. Thank you!

672. Makin' Magic: English press release
Written on Wednesday 9 July 2003 at 20:48 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Now it appears EA UK has also posted the press release of Makin' Magic, along with a list of key features. Noticable is the "expansion pack finale" in the first sentence: that probably means it's the last expansion pack for The Sims 1. Meanwhile there's still no patch for Superstar (although there are many bugs), and of course we never know what kind of bugs this EP will add... Anyway, the "Read more" bit has the whole press release from The Sims UK.

673. 100,000 albums
Written on Wednesday 9 July 2003 at 12:03 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Maxis has achieved another milestone: album number 100,000 has been posted. The exchange at the official site has been the place to tell your Sims' stories for more than 3 years. The first 6 months weren't really exciting according to Will, but after that more and more fans started to post their stories and they even amazed Maxis at times. The fans still do so. "With The Sims 2 on the horizon, I can't wait to see what the fans will create. There will be an even greater potential for creative storytelling and content," said Will in this press release. Congratulations Maxis!

674. New poll
Written on Thursday 3 July 2003 at 02:00 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Like every week we've changed our poll again. Last week we asked how often your Sims move house, and that varies a lot. For those who don't know: use the bulldoze icon, click on the house the family lives in, and then use the Create a Family screen to move them in somewhere else. For all the results of that poll click here. This week we got a sort of private question for you (although everything's anonymous, so we won't be able to track anything with your member account whatsoever): how much money have you spent on The Sims, its add-ons, donations, paysite subscriptions etc. etc. Vote on the right or at this page. Thank you.

Written on Wednesday 2 July 2003 at 13:17 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
IGN Gameboy has posted a preview of The Sims Bustin' Out on the GBA. In it is the information we saw in yesterday's news. However, it comes with 3 little new things: screenshots. These are about a Sim that has to go, a calling Sim and a Sim on a Bridge (below). You can check out their preview at this page. The screenshots are on this media page.

676. Late Superstar review
Written on Wednesday 2 July 2003 at 02:24 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
A late Superstar review has been posted at 3DAvenue.com. It's split up in 5 parts: Introduction, GamePlay (8.5/10), Visuals (7.5/10), Controls (9.0/10) and the Conclusion. The overal score they give is a 8.0 (out of 10). It doesn't really mention any new stuff, but I'll give you a quote from the GamePlay part anyway, which discusses repetition:
"One problem, or annoyance, I came across while doing this process was the repetition. Since your sim has needs, like food and sleep, you can never stay in studio town for as long as you need, forcing you to come back day after day trying to get a mere half star. Often you can replenish such needs as hygiene and hunger at Studio Town, but your energy can only be improved by sleep, and you can only get sleep at your house. Managing your sim is still obviously a very important role in Superstar, which is good, but when it always seems to cut into your activities it can become tedious."
You can read the entire review at this page, or check out other reviews in our review index.

677. New poll: How often do your Sims move?
Written on Thursday 26 June 2003 at 02:00 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Last week we were wondering if you'd like to see Sim Brother 3. Of the 190 people who voted, 32% can't wait. Those who don't know what Sim Brother is were with more though: 54%. That leaves just 14% for the other 3 options. 5% don't want SB3, 6% doesn't really care, and 3% does want it but can wait another while for it. This week's poll is about your Sims moving homes. We want to know how long your families usually stay in one home. You can vote at the right of each page, or at this page. Thank you for your votes.

678. New poll
Written on Thursday 19 June 2003 at 02:00 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Last week we asked what your fave pet from Unleashed was, and you did let us know. A whole lot of people, 363 in total, voted in the poll. The Dogs are by far the most popular with 48% of the votes! Cats follow the dogs with 26% of the votes. Then there were 63 who didn't have Unleashed (17%). The rest of you voted for the other animals (Goldfish, Parrot, Bitd, Turtle and Iguana - 1-2% each). Click here for all the results. As for the new poll: we want to know if you're looking forward to seeing a third series of Sim Brother here at The Sims Zone. To remember what it was again, you can read the first 2 series right here. Let us know, and vote in the poll at the right or on this page.

679. File Rating removed
Written on Tuesday 17 June 2003 at 00:39 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
We've decided to remove our file rating feature again because of several reasons (basically it didn't work out as we expected). However, we'll still be looking into other options to let you post your opinion about a file on this site, probably through a comments option (similar to what's found in the news sections). I can't guarantee anything yet though, news might (probably will) follow sooner or later.

680. Superstar Review (with more Spellbound confirmation)
Written on Friday 13 June 2003 at 02:54 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
The European site EuroGamer has posted a review of Superstar. It's one like we've seen many, but it reveals a small bit about Spellbound, which will probably be expansion 7:
"The sad thing is that Superstar stands up as one of the best expansions for The Sims, but as the latest in a series of six it's about as exciting as news of another Friday the 13th sequel. Although it's obvious that Maxis still has ideas (what with another expansion planned for the end of the year, and a true sequel thereafter), our patience is wearing thin, and even at £15 the cynical Superstar isn't glamorous enough to light up our lives. Buy it if you still play The Sims."
The review itself is not too great, especially one sentence that's a bit odd and proves of bad (or no) research done: they say "If you're an avid Sims follower, then you'll probably count The Sims Bustin' Out, Hot Date, House Party, Livin' It Up, On Holiday and Unleashed amongst the possessions dotted around your frequently rearranged, sick, urine and fly-covered abode". Besides it'd be more logical to put the expansion packs in the order of release, Bustin' Out isn't yet released (and won't be until 2004). The review isn't too in-depth, and could probably be the worst one so far. The rating is definately the lowest so far: the game scores just 5 out of 10.
