141. MaxoidSam Blog and Producer E-mail
Written on Wednesday 18 October 2006 at 00:59 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
The person carrying the Senior Producer title for Sims 2 PC Expansion Packs is - after Don Laabs, who covered the position for Pets - has changed again. Sam Player (MaxoidSam) has recently announced himself as the new senior producer. Don Laabs is, like Tim LeTourneau, moving on to another, still secret, project within the Sims Division (Maxis) at EA. Sam Player has been working at EA for various other games like the Tiger Woods PGA Tour franchise and From Russia With Love. MaxoidSam has introduced himself through his blog, in which he tells that in the future official downloads from the official site will be included in expansion packs and stuff packs. Hidden items from Glamour Life Stuff will also be made available as download on the official site in a matter of weeks. Those downloads will be included in future expansion packs too.

In an e-mail sent to various fansites MaxoidSam tells about his tour through Europe, together with Hunter Howe for the PC team and Ben Bell and Charles Normann for the consoles. Scheduled time with fans from various countries, 1 hour everywhere, turned out to take almost twice as long in almost every case. A special anecdote about flights is also made. Read on for all the details from Sam, as you can find the full e-mail in the Read More part of this mail. The rest is in his October blog.

142. Pets for Handhelds Delayed
Written on Tuesday 10 October 2006 at 20:21 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Until recently Maxis' planning was to have the Sims 2 Pets being released on all platforms simultaneously. The handheld versions have been delayed though, and will be released after 17 October in the US or 20 October in Europe. Exact dates are still somewhat unclear, but as things are looking now, The DS version will be the first to be released on 31 October in the US, and around 3 November in Europe. This might also be a week earlier, as EA contradicts itself in lists and press releases. The GBA game comes out a little later, on 14 November or 17 November, with the usual variation depending on where you live. The PSP version will be the last one which will be released worldwide, and is currently set at 12 December in the US, or 15 December in Europe - just in time for the holidays. As said, the dates are different throughout various recent statements from EA, and might be incorrect. In Europe a version for mobile phones will also be released in December, but no exact date has been given. The PC, PlayStation 2 and GameCube editions will all be released as promised on 17 October or 20 October - just a week away.

143. Pets on Mac
Written on Tuesday 10 October 2006 at 20:16 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Just like all previous expansion packs, Aspyr will port the PC expansion pack of the Sims 2 Pets to the Mac OS X platform. MacWorld reports that Aspyr is planning to release the pack quickly after the PC release, roughly 2 weeks, meaning it'll be out only two to three months after Open for Business was released on the same platform. Aspyr's site doesn't mention the game yet, so while the pack will most likely be released on Mac, it's not sure whether the short deadline will indeed be met, or if the game will be out a little later after all. Check the MacWorld report for their coverage.

Written on Thursday 21 September 2006 at 01:25 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
The Sims 2 Pets is coming closer, and EA is promoting it by releasing new batches of screenshots every now and then. On the official European sites for the Sims 2, such new screenshots have appeared for almost all platforms. There are 6 PC screenshots, one for the consoles (PS2, GameCube), 2 for the Nintendo DS and finally 4 of the GBA edition. The PSP version of the game got no new screenshots this round. 146. New Christmas Pack and Bundle
Written on Wednesday 20 September 2006 at 22:25 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Like last year, Maxis is releasing a special pack in the spirit of Christmas. The "Happy Holiday Stuff" is a new stuff pack, which will contain 60 holiday related items, according to the official Dutch site - 20 more than the Christmas/Holiday Party Pack that was released almost a year ago. The contents of the stuff pack looks largely similar to last year's pack though, judging from the box art posted by several European sites. The boxes below are from the Dutch site, and are pretty much the largest versions yet online.

Besides the stuff pack, a Holiday Edition of the Sims 2 is also being released again. This second holiday edition combines the base game of the Sims 2, along with the Happy Holiday Stuff pack. Some online shops have 7 November listed as release date of the stuff pack. The bundle will probably come at the same date. Prices will be in the usual range: around £10 (or roughly $20) for the stuff pack, and £30 ($50) for the Holiday Edition. Maxis promises more info on the official website soon, and of course we'll be telling you all about the pack as we get to know more.

147. Rumour: The Sims 2: In Season
Written on Wednesday 20 September 2006 at 00:51 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Over the weekend an interesting rumour was caused by the Game Registration page of EA. In the list of games an unknown Sims game was mentioned: The Sims 2: In Season. Although the item has been removed already, there is still a (locked) thread in the official site's BBS about it, in which MaxoidDrea replies that the "game doesn't exist and shouldn't be there." Whether that's merely a cover-up or if "In Season" is indeed an upcoming PC expansion pack (since it was listed under the PC games), time will tell. Of course we'll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news about it, if anything follows in the future.

148. Pets at the GamesConvention
Written on Sunday 3 September 2006 at 05:00 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
A week ago Leipzig in Germany was completely filled with gamers from all over the world, who were visiting the GamesConvention held near that city. Several Sims fansites - mostly German - also attended the show, and have posted their previews and pictures of the Sims 2 Pets, which was playable on the floor. First of all there's the official German site, which has posted a large special with many pictures taken at the GamesConvention. Follow the links after each parahraph to find pictures. Congratulations to our affiliate SimsZone and SimTimes for winning EA Sims Awards, for being the largest German-speaking community and the best German coverage of Pets respectively. Both sites visited the GC as well, and you can check out both SimsZone's coverage and SimTimes' special. You can also find some more screenshots on their third and fourth page of the screenshots index.

Furthermore, the Japanese gaming site 4Gamer.net has a preview of the PC game with several screenshots of Create a Pet mode. They also have two movies, linked to between the rows of screenshots. Finally there are two more fansites: TheSims.cz has a preview from the GamesConvention, whereas the German TheSims.de has only several pictures of the expansion pack, in between official screenshots in their screenshot index.

150. Pets Training Paper and Updated Puzzle
Written on Thursday 24 August 2006 at 04:36 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
The Sims 2 Pets will be out in about 2 months, and like Nightlife got Horoscopes and Open for Business some Classifieds, Pets is getting a Training Paper. The first issue is all about the PC version, and gives some insight in what Create a Pet for that platform will be like. Besides that some dog and cat breeds are introduced. More issues of the Pet Training Paper are promised, in which they'll introduce more breeds from the various platforms. Until then there's just the first issue to be read. Also on the official site, the Pets puzzle has changed, and you now have to put together a different screenshot.
