IGN has posted some new material of the Urbz on the consoles. This time there's a 'story' in which a couple of the girls in the game tell about the district they live in. Jayde introduces them:
"Hey there! My name is Jayde and I'd like to introduce you to a few urban friends of mine -- Lil'Bit, Toots Sweet and Ally Stile. Now, we know you've been ogling well-endowed game ladies since the dawn of an 8-bit time, but we're pretty sure you haven't met honeys like us...until now anyway."
Along with the article, there are a few new exclusive
screenshots and artworks. Be sure to
check it out - both guys and ladies.

This week's SimDay is small compared to
last week. There is a bit of news though. First of all, Maxis is still asking people to join the Focus Group 12 July, about The Sims on the consoles. See
this page for more. Furthermore there's a Sims 2 piece about installing custom content to The Sims 2. It was included in
Lucy's Email as well last Saturday, but you can now
read it again on the
official site. There's also a new preview of The Sims 2 by Yahoo! Games. It once again goes over all the new things like aspirations, genetics and graphics. Just read
the preview for all the details.
On to the URBZ, Maxis has posted 8 shots of the game on the GBA. They've been seen here before though. Brand new are the 11 sketches that have been posted though. They show some objects and places in their very first stage of design. Finally, the blog this week is about the "First Playable" version that was talked about
last week, but also about an upcoming annual event called "Camp EA". It will be held next week, 15 July, and Scot Amos will tell some more about it then. This is a bit of what he has to say about the game this week:
"On the game-side, we have three districts packed with new characters, new micro-game jobs, tons of new objects to play with, and stunning new social interactions with new in-game 'action cameras'; they make the game feel like you're in control of a living sitcom!"
You can find the screenshots, the sketches and of course the blog on the official
URBZ Website.
[Update 18:25] By playing an online game, "
Poppit!", between 20 and 30 July, you can win The Sims Mega Deluxe or any of the Sims expansion packs. You can find the game on
EA Pogo. You need an EA.Com account to sign in.

As our affiliate
SimsZone.de reports, Maxis has made the name "The Urbz" the final name for the new console Sims game. That means it's no longer a working title, but you'll see it in stores under that name. It's the first Sims game without "Sims" in the title, though the subtitle, "
Sims in the City", is still there. The first name, "
Urban Sims" won't be spread anymore. It's not been confirmed if the logo is final too or not. Furthermore, we have some brand new screenshots from the GBA version of the game for you. Watch and see how creating your Urb (Sim) works, what Darius has to tell you and what an urban basketball court looks like. Just click the thumbnails below for (slightly) bigger versions.
215. Console URBZ Preview

GameSpy has checked out The URBZ on the PlayStation 2, and posted a preview about it. Just like the game, the preview is mostly about the rep of your urb. For instance, they describe the start of the game:
"As you start the game, you're introduced to Darius, the self-styled "King of the City", who will give you tips and information throughout the game via updates on your XAM, or Exchange Access Messaging system. The XAM works a lot like a PDA phone, in that it allows you to send and receive text messages, store inventory, and take in-game photographs."
New is also the information that you rep might increase when you let your urb break the law, e.g. by mugging other urbz on the street. By doing so your reputation among the punks will grow, but it isn't good around other folks like the rich ones. This time, you will also have to actually pay for clothes, tattoos and piercings you dress your urb up with when creating it. In the previous version, Bustin' Out, you just had to unlock the items. Finally, the jobs and mini-games are mentioned, but also the taking a rest and the general look and feel of the game. Make sure to read the
entire preview if you're looking forward to this game.

Besides lots of Sims 2 news, there is of course also the other sequel from Maxis in the making: the URBZ.
GameSpot has posted a preview of the GBA version of the game, along with some screenshots and videos. In the preview GameSpot calls the handheld edition a "
tiny version" of the console version. The game starts where Bustin' Out left off, namely with the rocket that sent you to better places - the city. There you can explore the five new neighborhoods, Sim quarter, urbania, bayou, carnival, and glass town, good for 25 areas. When you start the game you have to answer a couple of questions to assign your urb to one of the four groups: arties, nerdies, streeties, and richies. Of course all of these neighborhoods and groups have their own uniqueness. New is also that you can earn special new motives, including insomnia, which means your Urb can go almost without any sleep. Furthermore GameSpot mentions some of the mini games and connectivity features of the game. You will still be able to link up the game with other GBA's and share items, but GameCube connectivity like in Bustin' Out will not be provided. Finally there's a little mention of the new (darker) graphics the game has.
Included with this
preview are 13 new
screenshots and 3
Gameplay Movies (31 Mb in total for download, GameSpot Basic account required to stream them for free).

If you live in the Sunnyvale, California area in the US, you might be interested in joining another Focus Group that will be held there 8 July. EA is trying to get the opinions of Sims fans this way. This time the discussion will be about The Sims (Get A Life) and Bustin' Out on the consoles, so most likely it'll be for the URBZ. For more information about this,

The
official chat Thursday brought a lot of new information about the upcoming console game, "The URBZ - Sims in the City". But today we get even more information from our friends over at
GameSpot. First there are
three new screenshots from the console version of The URBZ. Once shows off the new Create-A-Sim, as well two other shots featuring parts of the city's streets. GameSpot also has posted the first URBZ video! You can now download the
First Official Trailer for The Urbz from the site aswell. As if that's not enough, Gamespot also gives us an interview with Sinjin Bain, executive producer of The URBZ. It gives some great information on the new gameplay feature, and game concept. You can read the interview by clicking
here. Sinjin Bain promises that there will be a lot more information on The URBZ (and The Sims 2) released during the 2004 E3 convention (May 11-13, 2004). So be sure to check back a lot during that week as the information pours in.

Maxis has launched the official site for The URBZ, the sequel to Bustin' Out coming to the consoles later this year. On this site you can find a couple of new screenshots for both the console and GBA versions. Besides that, Maxis also presents us the "Crew", i.e. some of the characters in the game. The press release and some general info, like a feature list, can also be found on the site in the "Details" and "411" sections. Although a "No Flash" version is there, it only shows the press release. So to enjoy the site and to see the new screenshots, you must have the
Flash Plugin installed. If you visit the site and you don't have it yet, you will be asked to install it. You can find all of the mentioned things, and probably more in the future, at
URBZSims.com.
