11. New Pets Screenshots and Artworks

The official site has recently been updated with various new screenshots of the Sims 2 pets - on all platforms. There are some Create a Pet screenshots for all platforms, as well as some generic in-game scenes on the PC and various handhelds. Besides all that, we also have a few artworks which were left behind at the announcement, all directly from EA. As if that's not enough, we also have five screenshots for the Nintendo DS and one for the GBA from DS-x2, found by GibbieSims. Check out everything by clicking the thumbnails below.

12. Aly and AJ in The Sims 2 Pets

Just like several bands did for Open for Business, the upcoming Sims game The Sims 2 Pets (expansion pack on PC) will feature real-life artists who recorded one of their songs in Simlish. Aly and AJ have performed "Chemicals React," which can be found on the Deluxe Edition of Into the Rush, in Simlish. The song will appear in the PC, PlayStation 2, GameCube and PSP versions of the game - the DS and GBA editions will not feature it. The Deluxe Edition of Into the Rush is now available in stores with an extra bonus dvd, which includes the full video of the song. Yahoo! Music will host the world premiere of the complete Simlish Aly & AJ video on August 22nd, but so far a trailer of it has been published on the official site. The press release announcing the collaboration between EA and Aly and AJ is found together with the trailer on a special Aly and AJ page.

13. Our The Sims 2 Pets Consoles Preview

As promised we've continued or Sims 2 Pets coverage. The second preview of the new Sims game is now available for you to read on this site, naturally with a nice dip of pictures. This time we look at the console version, which will be out for Playstation 2 and GameCube on 17 October (20 October in Europe), and PSP in November. We check out the details from create a pet to the pet plaza, with pet points, pet tricks, and more pets. The Nintendo DS and GBA versions will get their very own previews soon as well. We're continuing our own Pets coverage with a preview for the consoles version very soon, but meanwhile some other fansites have also started writing about The Sims 2 Pets. 15. IGN Previews Pets

Along with several other websites, IGN has published three previews of the Sims 2 Pets. One covers the PC and Console (including PSP) versions in one, the DS and GBA each get separate previews. 16. Pets is Official [Updated]

The Sims 2 Pets will be released on PC (Expansion pack), PlayStation 2, GameCube, Nintendo DS and GBA (Separate games) on 17 October. The PSP version, similar to the PS2 and GameCube version will be released about a month later. All versions feature dogs and cats, with Create a Pet as base to create them. Pets will need training and using codes you can unlock unique accessories in the games. The gameplay for all versions is open-ended, like the classic freeplay mode. On the PC there will be generations of pets, including the genetics, and careers for your pets in Security, Show Business or Service. On the consoles, PS2, GameCube and PSP, there will be a central town park where you can head over to with your pets, shop for pet items, and socialise with others. The DS version is all about managing a pet care centre, where you have to take care of other Sims' pets. Selling pet products gives you even more simoleons. Finally there's the GBA version, where you have to take care of the town's pets as well, in Barkersville. Again, teaching tricks is one of the tasks, but in this version you'll also be able to participate in tournaments and championships to win prizes.

Along with the announcement, EA has released a trailer, screenshots, artworks, pack shots and the logo, all of which you can find right here. For the trailer, please pick a high quality version (15.1 Mb) or the low quality version (4.0 Mb). Read more for all artworks, screenshots and packshots! As you can see on the pack shots, the European Pegi rating for all console and handheld versions will be 7+, compared to the 12+ rating for the PC. The American rating is still pending, although The Sims Zone has learned from Maxis that it'll be E10+ for the consoles and handhelds, and as you can see it's T for Teen for the PC expansion.

17. Pets at EA Store

Maxis is still holding the announcement of Pets back to probably July 27th, but the EA Store has already put the game in their product listing. There are 5 versions of the game available for pre-order, namely PC, PS2, GameCube, DS, GBA. The prices are $29.95 for PC, DS and GBA, and $39.95 for PS2 and GameCube. Several brief decriptions are included with the listings. On PC, pets will include dogs, cats, birds and more, but Create-A-Pet only exists for dogs and cats. Training is available, and pets will also be able to get a job in Show Business, Security or Service. On the consoles there will be 22 dog and 15 cat breeds, as well as guinea pigs. At Town Park you can find other Sims with pets and buy items for pets. The console game also seems to be the classic freeplay - whether there's a storymode is not said. Finally, you can also share pets through a code to hand to your friends. On the DS version, you have to run a pet clinic, and by treating pets you unlock newi tems. 18. Sims 2 Pets Info, Screen and PS2 Packshot

Several bits of info about the Sims 2 Pets were revealed the past couple of days. Not only for the PC Expansion pack, but there's also more proof that the Sims 2 Pets will be the new console and handheld games as well. 19. Sims 2 Pets: Rumours and new Video

With the appearing of the Sims 2 Pets at E3, rumours about the game have sprung up as well. Gaming shop EB Games had the title in their database for several platforms; first PSP, later on several alternative platforms (PlayStation 2, Nintendo DS, GameCube and the GBA), but by now all product pages for the Sims 2: Pets have been removed. Although it's not unthinkable that a Sims title for consoles and handhelds is currently in the make, the Sims 2: Pets is more than likely the fourth expansion pack for the PC, considering the full E3 trailer (see TheSidDog.com for a new video, near the bottom of the page) has PC-like graphics, and a message from EA just before the E3 saying that the next EP would be shown at the E3. Naturally we'll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news about upcoming Sims games, but until then it's safest to assume that the Sims 2: Pets is primarily the next PC expansion pack.

20. Sims 2 PSP Gone Gold

EA has announced that the Sims 2 has gone gold for the PSP. It's the final version of the Sims 2 to be released this year, after the release on Consoles, DS, GBA and also Mobile phones. The UMDs are now pressed and packed, after which they will be sent off to the shops. The game will be available on 9 December in the US, and around the 23rd in Europe, according to EA.
