11. The Sims Zone 8 Years Old!
Written on Wednesday 18 November 2009 at 09:22 by ChEeTaH - 2 comments.
Eight years and one day ago The Sims Zone launched. At 17 November 2001 (well in the days of the Sims 1) we launched this site. Since then many things have changed, others have remained the same. One thing that definitely has never changed, is our dedication to the Sims series. We've seen the Sims 2 come and go, and now the Sims 3 is there with its first expansion pack released this week. We'll continue to provide you with the latest and greatest around this franchise - from downloads to news and reviews, including a World Adventures review soon. Some other major changes are currently being planned, and should be executed in the next year - we'll keep you posted, of course. I want to thank all team members - current and past - for their dedication to The Sims Zone. And of course all our visitors. Let's add another couple of years (and more) to it, together!

13. Problems with nVidia drivers
Written on Thursday 8 October 2009 at 21:46 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Several fansites have reported that the latest update of nVidia drivers causes problems with the Sims 3. The 191.07 version may cause the game to crash back to the desktop. If you experience the problem, revert back to an older version of the drivers. Until then EA recommends to not update to this version, and wait for a new revision of the nVidia drivers to upgrade. More information is in a forum thread.

14. EA Announces World Adventures
Written on Monday 3 August 2009 at 20:37 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
Today EA has announced the first expansion for The Sims 3. Coming in the week of 16 November is World Adventures, in which Sims will leave Sunset Valley or Riverview to explore new grounds. The Sims' General Manager Scott Evans makes a big promise by saying it is one of the most robust expansion packs for the Sims series yet. Similar to Vacation (Sims 1) and Bon Voyage (Sims 2), there will be three locations to travel to: China, France and Egypt. Sims will be able to explore culture, chase down opportunities and search for treasure. The game will ship with 1,000 Simpoints for the Sims Store. In 2010 the game will also be released for iPhone and iPod Touch. Read on for the full press release, or check the pictures below by clicking the thumbnails.

15. Sims 3 Patch - Long list of Fixes [Update]
Written on Tuesday 28 July 2009 at 19:13 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.

A new patch for the Sims 3 is out, this time updating the game to version 1.3. The amount of fixes is big: from deformed toddlers to trying for baby with the Grim Reaper, picking an unborn baby's gender through eating fruits, having Sims you once played deleted by the game or baby Sims for single parents: these issues and many more are now repaired. The patch is available through the game's launcher (EA Download Manager required). Check out the official site's patches page for a complete list of fixes.

[Update 29 July 2009] On the forums there are some complaints about Sims not being able to go anywhere after this update. For more information, read the forum posts about the topic. Thanks to SnootySims for spotting this.

16. The Sims 3 Released
Written on Wednesday 3 June 2009 at 20:49 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.

Right now we're somewhere in the middle between the worldwide release dates of The Sims 3. Yesterday it was released in the US and various other parts of the world, and shops worldwide are selling the game - in some cases a few days early - already. Large parts of Europe will have to wait until tomorrow or Friday (including the UK) until the official release. Altogether the launch of perhaps EA's biggest PC game of the year is in full swing.

Not all has gone well for EA with the Sims 3, as an almost final version of the game was leaked 2 weeks ago. The final version was also leaked just before the weekend. It has already been downloaded so often that according to some sources it's well in the running for becoming this year's most pirated game. More problems hit EA when the official community website was found to be open as well, which lasted several hours.

Nevertheless EA is probably expecting to cash in now, after a huge marketing campaign. The official site is open, people are playing the game, sharing on the exchange, and more. Besides the release on the PC and Mac, there is also a mobile version for iPhone and iPod Touch. The game will be released in 60 countries, translated to 22 languages. Read on for EA's full press release regarding this big release.

17. The Sims 3 Fan Site Previews [Update]
Written on Saturday 23 May 2009 at 15:48 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
In the past few weeks there have been several fan events in London and Manchester (UK), Utrecht (Netherlands) and São Paulo, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). Quite a number of fan sites wrote one or even multiple previews, interviews and other articles about the Sims 3. We've collected a list of all articles we could find in random order. If you know of other recent articles by fan sites, feel free to tell us about them! Note that all the English translations are automatic translations from Google Translate. When an article doesn't have a specific link to an English translation, it will be in English or there's no text to translate (i.e. just pictures). Anyway, read on for the complete list!

[Update] We've added previews from SimOperations, SimsShine and Sims Universe since we first posted this.

18. The Sims 3 - Hands On Preview
Written on Friday 22 May 2009 at 08:28 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.

We already announced that The Sims Zone would attend a Sims 3 hands-on event. We even briefly made a live post during the event. Now, after Andy's preview earlier this month, we have another large preview ready for you. This time from the event in Utrecht, combined with information from an earlier presentation by Ben Bell last year, also in Utrecht. Even just two weeks before the release there's a lot to discover, and we tell you a lot about it - it's impossible to cover everything. So, without further ado, head over to our three-page hands-on preview of the Sims 3!

19. New Official Sims 3 Site
Written on Saturday 16 May 2009 at 14:48 by Rosana - 0 comments.

Our German colleagues from SimTimes have discovered the German official Sims 3 site when they found the Pre-order Thank You page. This is what it looks like:

You can't really see many pages just yet. And I'm pretty sure once EA discovers that so many people have seen the new site that they'll close everything very quickly. A few pages like Free Stuff, Search, Account and Blogs are working.

20. Quick report from Utrecht
Written on Friday 15 May 2009 at 16:08 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Right now The Sims Zone is visiting a Sims 3 hands-on event in Utrecht. We've already seen the game presented by MJ Chun and got some time to play the game ourselves. We can now report that there will at least be an ageUpToNPC cheat: this will allow you to grow a toddler into an NPC (Non-Playable Character). Right now our own Rosana is creating a house for the Exchange when it launches. Over at Juniorwood, Junior, mascot of our affiliate SimsNetwork has posted a few blog posts. We'll bring a bigger preview soon. Until then, check out some other sources:
