91. "Bon Voyage" Next Expansion?
Written on Wednesday 2 May 2007 at 19:57 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
As you should expect, Seasons isn't the last expansion pack for the Sims 2. Nevertheless the topic for the sixth expansion has not yet been known until recently, when according to SnootySims BBS member ecaguimbalu found a PC release title for September at VideoEta.com. The site focuses mainly on DVDs and movies, so the reliability of the release date can be questioned as there are no details as to where the information comes from, presumably from the publisher (EA). The site claims the expansion will be called "Bon Voyage". Online shop Buy.com also has the game in their catalog for the price of an expansion pack and a release date in early September. Confirmation from EA or Maxis about the next expansion pack is still pending, but of course we'll keep you up-to-date with all the latest news.

After making its music available through iTunes music from EA games will in the future also be available for TV, films, commercials and other media products. Producers can license usage of the music for these media products. A library website has been created, on which you can find samples for the first 10 CDs that have been produced. Those 10 include a "The Sims: Jazz Lounge" CD with 12 full tracks and 30 second snippets from each of those songs. The music is only available to APM clients, which EA has partnered with. More details can be found in the press release and on the EA APM site.

93. Ford Mustang Download
Written on Wednesday 2 May 2007 at 19:21 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Until now cars in the Sims have only been available to the happy owners of the Nightlife expansion pack. Recently that was changed, as EA released a Ford Mustang for download. Although at least one newer expansion than Nightlife is necessary in this case, any Sims fan with one of those packs can get the sports car into their game. For those without Nightlife but with Open For Business, Pets or Seasons there's a carkit download as well, which includes the driveways and such to make the car (only the Mustang!) work in the game. In the first version there was a bug with the headlights, but that's been fixed by now. If you previously downloaded the car and don't have Pets or Seasons, then you will need to do so again to solve the problem. It will be necessary to uninstall the first version before installing the new one though, as explained by MaxoidDramaLlama in a BBS post. To download the item head on over to the Ford Mustang page.

95. Patch for Pets (Mac)
Written on Wednesday 2 May 2007 at 19:21 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Since the release of the Pets expansion pack for Mac, publisher Aspyr has found a few bugs and released a patch to fix them. It fixes an install issue with later expansion packs, as well as lot or neighborhood name changes not being saved properly. Graphically some colour issues with some objects are corrected, and performance should be improved as well. Finally the patch also solves the problem of user settings being reset to their defaults at the launch of the game. For the list of fixes as well as a download link check out the corresponding news post about the patch.

Written on Wednesday 2 May 2007 at 19:21 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Although an official announcement has not yet been made, the product page for The Sims 2 Seasons for Mac has appeared on Aspyr's website. As expected the company will transform the Seasons expansion pack to make it work on the Mac like all previous expansion packs for the Sims 2. The expansion will not be different from the PC version, but will be an exact copy, just for a different platform. For more details check out the product page. We'll have the pack available for pre-order from our Mac shop as soon as possible.

Written on Sunday 29 April 2007 at 00:55 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Sim Brother V - Cat's Eyes After the second full week of Sim Brother V, it's time to analyse what happened again. Time to look back at the past few days and see why some of the things happened. How's the competition between the housemates, after a task splitting the house up in teams? What's rebel Jack doing in the house? How will the false eviction impact the contestants in the upcoming weeks, as well as the stress that the house causes? After all, the housemates are packed together for many days, without getting any alone time except when in the diary room. Cat's Eyes is back with a second show of the season, following Sim Brother as closely as possible.

98. Sims 2 Deluxe Announced
Written on Sunday 22 April 2007 at 01:42 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Recently EA has announced The Sims 2 Deluxe, which in time will replace the original Sims 2 packaging in stores. Similar to the Sims 1 Deluxe version it's the base game together with an expansion pack. Not the first though, but the second this time: Nightlife. Besides that the pack will contain a bonus DVD, presumably the same that was in the original Sims 2 Special DVD Edition. The pack does not seem to contain any other exclusive content. Details can be found on the information page. Its price is that of a usual full-priced retail game, around $40 (£30). A release date has not yet been announced, though Amazon has it set for 8 May. A free shipping offer at the EA Store ends late May, suggesting it will be released sometime next month. The game has not yet been confirmed for European release either. Americans can already pre-order The Sims 2 Deluxe from our Sims 2 PC Shop.

99. Seasons and Celebration! Stuff Chat
Written on Sunday 22 April 2007 at 01:36 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
To celebrate the release of both Seasons and Celebration! Stuff Maxis held a chat last week about the two packs. Some interesting questions were answered. First of all, a second patch for Seasons will address issues with Sims spontaneously combusting while in the hot tub, as well as some temperature problems. Maxis is also looking in making it possible to hold weddings on community lots for a future expansion pack. Otherwise no real new details were revealed during the chat, though it is a fun transcript to read. Take a peek at the full transcript for all the details.

Written on Sunday 22 April 2007 at 01:05 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
IGN has created various small strategy guides for the Sims 2 series. This also goes for Seasons, in which they discuss some of the main topics of the expansion. They start off by explaining the new things that are in the game, following by a gardening guide. This also includes PlantSimism and fishing. Finally the guide explores the Seasons and their purpose in the game, as well as the various weather types. While nothing new is mentioned, it may contain useful tips for playing the game. Read the guide (9 pages) for all the details. IGN Insiders also get the possibility of download the guide as PDF or to their PSP.
