Tutorial: Creating new Hoods 2
This tutorial explains how you can create new neighborhoods if you don't have an expansion pack installed. If you do have an expansion pack installed, this tutorial can be followed as well. However, there's a slightly easier way then, which is explained in the Creating new Hoods 1 tutorial (Tutorial 4). Follow the steps below for every neighborhood you want to create.

Note that this tutorial uses quite many images. Please be patient while your browser is loading these images if you've viewing this online.

Before doing this: Please follow the Multiple Neighborhoods tutorial first (Tutorial 3). Also follow the first tip in that tutorial, which is creating a template back-up (for instance on slot 99) which you use to create new neighborhoods with. This tutorial explains it with such a back-up. Otherwise, you must use any back-up that you want to start with as empty back-up.

Step 1: Entering the Copy screen

Let's say you have your template neighborhood on back-up slot 99. The template neighborhood is the neighborhood which you use to make new neighborhoods with. You can make a back-up of the neighborhood as it is at the very start of the game (including tutorial homes etc.), or first demolish all houses to start with a completely empty neighborhood. More is explained in the Multiple Neighborhoods tutorial (Tutorial 3).

The essence of creating a new neighborhood is to copy the template neighborhood to a new slot, which then becomes the new neighborhood. The first step is to enter the "Copy from..." option. We do this by first selecting that option on the main screen:

Now we must select our template (Start) neighborhood. In this tutorial, we've put this at Back-up 99:

Now we're going to click the "Continue..." button to go to the next step:

Step 2: The Copy a Back-up screen

Now we're at the screen, it's time to select the back-up slot to create the new neighborhood on. Let's say we have just 2 neighborhoods (so actually 2 back-ups) now. That means slot 3 is the first free one. We select this back-up to copy to:

Now that's done, we're ready to go. Click "Continue" and the back-up will be made:

Step 3: Wait

Wait a little while...

Step 4: Enter Change Details screen

Now the back-up has been made, but it still has the name and comments of the template neighborhood. We want to change this. So, we enter the "Change Details" option. The first step is to select this option:

Now select the new neighborhood, the one we want to change the details of:

And click the "Continue..." button:

Step 5: Change the Details

Now all we have to do, is change those names and comments:

Once you typed what you want, click the "Ok" button:

Step 6: Done

That was the final step. It's all done:

Extra Notes

If you didn't make a template neighborhood, then you can always make one from your existing neighborhoods. Do that by creating a back-up on any slot, for instance slot 99. Follow the Creating Back-ups tutorial (Tutorial 1) for more details. There are a few websites which have the original neighborhood available as a download. You can install those to make a template neighborhorhood of as well.

This method is mainly for those without any of the expansion packs. However, it can be used with the expansion packs, especially if you want the template neighborhood to be different than the empty one. If you want to create new empty neighborhoods, read the Creating new Hoods 1 tutorial (Tutorial 4).
