11. Fansite Pets Previews
Written on Tuesday 1 August 2006 at 06:45 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
We're continuing our own Pets coverage with a preview for the consoles version very soon, but meanwhile some other fansites have also started writing about The Sims 2 Pets. All of these come with inside information, exclusive pictures, and more. The focus is, as you might expect, largely on the PC expansion pack, although all sites do at least cover all other platforms to some extent as well. So check out the following links for more details about the upcoming game.

12. Don Laabs talks to Community
Written on Friday 16 June 2006 at 16:26 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
It's been a while since Don Laabs got the job of Senior Producer for PC expansion packs of the Sims 2. Thursday he posted a letter on the official site, in which he talks about several topics the community has been talking about lately. First of all he mentions the next expansion pack will be revealed through an official announcement in several weeks. Meanwhile there have been a few sneak peeks (from Hunter and Shannon) of features in the new EP. In other news, he also announces that sims creator HappyMoonBelly has joined Maxis in the video capture department as full-time employee. There are also three new QA testers from the community, and Nick K. (Limbo1n), who won the USC / Sims 2 University Contest last year has been an intern for Maxis for about a month. He spent his time at the marketing department.

The second half of the letter is about hot topics on the forums. First of all he announces patches for Open for Business and Family Fun Stuff have arrived - more about that here later. Don also explains why making a patch takes so long - the Sims 2 is a very complex game, and everything needs to be tested in a high number of configurations, a number which is increasing with every product. Don also talks about Stuff packs - more will be released in the future. They're not available as downloads, to make people who don't visit the websites (official or fansites) get some extra items for their games anyway. Maxis acknowledges that they're not for everyone. When it comes to Tim LeTourneau, Don tells he's become Executive Producer, but he can't say whatfor yet. Finally, he explains how it should be "Live Mode" ("intransitive verb, rhymes with give") and not "Live mode" ("adjective, rhymes with jive"). For the complete explanations, details, etc, read Don's Letter.

13. DC Independent Film Festival Featured Sims Movies
Written on Friday 17 March 2006 at 01:47 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Many people use The Sims 2 to tell stories. This can be done through photo albums, but also with movies. The annual DC Independent Film Festival has received 1,200 submissions for films to be featured. The festival showed a total of 110 movies, of which 3 were made by fans of the Sims 2, with the game. April Hoffman ("The Awakening Episode 1"), André Lopion ("My and Myself") and Michelle Pettit-Mee and Kheri Batal ("A Different Song") were awarded by EA Games, which gave each of them the Open for Business expansion pack. Five other directors with movies selected for the festival were given The Sims 2 as well, "to encourage them create their next movie in the Sims world." You can find the three Sims 2 movies on the individual fansites. Also see the official site's news post for some details.

As we posted earlier, Tim LeTourneau was in Brussels last thursday to promote Open for Business. Besides our own preview there are several other fansites who also had representatives over, and they have now posted pictures and/or reports from the presentation. Below you can find links to the reports posted so far. Note that some of the sites mentioned below are Dutch, and thus so are their reports - in that case, you'll almost always find the same information in our article. If more reports appear, we'll post them here.

15. Possible Box Shot Open for Business
Written on Sunday 27 November 2005 at 22:14 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Expansion pack 3 is still to be announced, and usually pack shots aren't released until the product is close to its release date. This time however, EA Spain has sent out an artwork, quite possibly a packshot, of the Sims 2 Open for Business to Spanish fansites. Click the thumbnail below to see a large version of the shot, with thanks to SnootySims for the find.

16. Happy Birthday to TSZ!
Written on Thursday 17 November 2005 at 23:38 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
Once apon a time, 17 November 2001 to be precise, a new Sims site was born. A team from a closed site about their mutual hobby had relaunched it, but differently. Their aspiration: to become one of the biggest fansites for the Sims in the world...

It's exactly four years later now, and we're well under way of getting to our Lifetime Want. Maybe not quite there yet, but we're still in our teenage years and have a lot of time to get there, if need be using some Elixir of Life to stay young. As long as Mr. Reaper doesn't pay a visit we'll continue to bring you the best in the Sims news, information, downloads, and more. The latest download, Yua the Banshee by Starrats, is a little gift for you on our fourth birthday. Next stop: 5 years old. Only 365 nights to go...

Thanks to the entire team, current and past, everybody at Maxis, affiliates, and everybody else who has helped TSZ become what it is now, four years on!

Today Maxis has started their holiday giveaway today. From today and throughout the holidays 12 downloads from the Holiday Party Pack will be published on the official site. Besides that other fun stuff will be released during the giveaway. By the looks of the calendar in the intro on the frontpage of the site, Maxis will give three items every week. The first this week is a "Classic Wreath", a decorational object for any family.

MaxoidKane has also sent a holiday buying guide, found in the Read More part of this newspost or on the buying guide page. In that guide, MaxoidKane also says the Holiday Edition of the Sims 2 won't be available in Europe and other territories, but the default game will be bundled with the Christmas Party Pack instead.

Written on Saturday 20 August 2005 at 15:21 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Two days ago the annual GamesConvention started in Leipzig, Germany. This gaming expo is one of the biggest public expos where gaming publishes and developers show off their latest upcoming games. Of course Electronic Arts is also showing several games, including the Sims 2 on Consoles and Nightlife for the PC. Several, mostly German, Sims fansites are also attending. TheSims.de has already posted some screenshots of Nightlife taken during the convention, in two posts on their frontpage. The Sims Zone is also at the GamesConvention and we'll post pictures and more in the next week - so stay tuned for more.
