1. The Sims Bowling released in Europe
Written on Thursday 14 June 2007 at 03:41 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
A while ago we already mentioned The Sims Bowling, a bowling game for mobile handsets branded with Sims. EA Europe has announced its release, and as it seems the game is now available in Europe. Currently it's not available in North America, though it will be brought there soon as well. According to the product page you can create your sim and select the colour of your bowling ball. You have to try to improve your reputation, but as you do so the difficulty of the game will also increase. The game features three ways to play: Classic, Spare-O-Thon and Strike-O-Thon. The press release is not available to the general public, but as service to you, you can just read on to read EA's announcement. The few screenshots that are available can be seen below.

2. EA Music on iTunes
Written on Tuesday 20 March 2007 at 20:05 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Although multiple soundtracks of the Sims 2 and its expansions have already been available as digital download before, EA has announced that it'll from now on release all the music from their games on Apple's iTunes Music Store, as well as through their own sales channels. Under the EA Trax label you'll be able to find music from many EA Games, including albums of the Sims 2, University, Nightlife and Unleashed (The Sims 1), as well as the Urbz. Soundtracks for other expansions are not (yet) available. Purchasing an album through EA, which goes for all Sims but the Urbz soundtracks, costs around $8-$11, for which you get unprotected MP3 files with the music and covers. If you like to save yourself those costs and you already bought the games, a tool like SimPE might require a little more time but does reveal the entire Sims 2 soundtrack, including all expansion packs, as MP3 files. For the Sims 1 you can simply copy the MP3 files out of the game's folders. There are also free Superstar and Bustin' Out albums available on the official Sims 1 site, through the Get Cool Stuff section. See the Sims store for the music of the Sims 2, University, Nightlife and Unleashed. Visit the EA Trax site for EA's entire soundtrack offering through iTunes and EA's own store. More information about EA Trax soundtracks on iTunes can be found in the press release.

Written on Sunday 7 January 2007 at 06:21 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
A little while ago Will Wright, creator of the Sims and Spore, was a guest at Comedy Central's Colbert Report. In the interview he talked a little bit about Spore, and even more about the Sims. Wright told how the Sims is a game playing a universe in ours, and that the game can also be educational. In part 2 he also talked a little bit about Superstar, and being famous in the Sims world. About Spore he explained the basics of the game, the evolution and wars between gods. He also mentioned how his inspiration comes from books, and how Sims can read books as well. You can check out part 1 and part 2 of the interview.

Maxis has announced the Sims 1 Complete Collection on the official site of The Sims 2. However, that's not the only Sims 1 repackaging that's been released. EA has also made two expansion pack collections, each containing three expansions for the first Sims game ever. They're mentioned in the same announcement. The two "Sims Expansion Three-Pack Volumes" are now being sold at the price of $20 each. The first pack contains Unleashed, Superstar and House Party, the other has Hot Date, Vacation and Makin' Magic. Some (online) shops also list the packs as "Triple Expansion Collections". You can see the pack shots below, and order the collections from our shop now. If these expansion pack collections are being released in Europe as well is yet unknown.

Europe will get the complete collection as of 17/18 November - the price is yet unknown for Europe. Its rating has been upped from 7+ for the later expansion packs (rated by PEGI) to 12+ for the collection. The US version will keep its T (Teen, 13+) rating. 6. Sims 1 Expansion Pack Collections
Written on Wednesday 23 February 2005 at 00:49 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Even though the sequel is out already, and the Sims 1 community is getting less active, many people still play the previous game. EA is releasing three Expansion Pack Collections in March, according to GameSpot. That site site has added game descriptions for three Expansion Pack Collections of the Sims 1, to be released 15 March. Pack 1 gives you House Party and Unleashed, to throw parties and get pets in the game. Collection 2 has Hot Date and Makin' Magic, which give you Downtown and Magic Town. Finally, Volume 3 contains Vacation and Superstar so your new Celebrities can take a Vacation as well. The only expansion pack not in one of these is Livin' Large, which comes with the Sims Deluxe. The packs cost $19.99 each, and it's unsure if they're released in Europe as well. Thanks to James Magenta for the information.

7. SimDay [Update]
Written on Thursday 3 February 2005 at 20:54 by ChEeTaH - 2 comments.
This week's SimDay brings a few new things. The first is the winning of an AIAS award by the Sims 2. The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences has awarded the game as best simulation game of 2004. Last year Maxis won two AIAS awards as well, for Bustin' Out and Superstar. Furthermore there's news of an interview with Will Wright on The Onion. The website interviewed Will about creating the Sims and SimCity series. He talks about how he gets inspired, but also about things he's tried but never worked out very well, and how SimAnt more or less turned into the Sims:
"There was a little simulation of a guy who lived in the house who would sit and watch television, get food from the fridge, mow the lawn, stuff like that. I realized at the end of SimAnt that the simulation we built for the ants was almost more intelligent than for the guy, because the guy was being done using traditional programming, whereas the ants were done using this distributed environmental intelligence of the pheromone trails. I began wondering, could we build a more robust simulation of human behavior if we adopted this ant model, where we distribute the intelligence not through the agents, but through the environment? Then I started experimenting with some techniques, and that got the ball rolling for The Sims."
To read the rest of the article, which mentions a lot more than just that, head over to the special. Finally there's a link to yesterday's preview, which we've already mentioned here.

[Update 4 February, 23:30] SimDay Part 2 has been posted as well, with two new things. The first is a survey about the Urbz. If you got the game, you can let Maxis know what you think of it. It's quite possible they will use the information for future games. Remarkable is the mention of the Urbz 2 during the survey. There have been some rumours about this title already, and although the survey in no way confirms it it's not any less likely now. The second thing is a new Valentine's Day look for MySim Pages. If you're feeling romantic you can apply it to yours, or you can check out MaxoidMonkey's page for a preview.

8. UrbzDay
Written on Thursday 9 September 2004 at 21:31 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
This week there's a few new things of the Urbz again. There is a selection of screenshots, but they've been seen before in the GameSpot City Guide (Console shots) and WorthPlaying (GBA shots). The screenshots on the official site have been divided over separate pages now though, which should make navigating through them easier.

What is new, is a movie about the Rep. What Jayde go from nobody (Rep = 0), to Superstar (208) via Trendsetter (100). It's a clip from the console version, and you can find it in the Flix section on the official site. Finally there's the weekly blog. MaxisBoBaxis tells how he spent a saturday playing the Urbz, instead of working on the website. Read that, and watch the video, at UrbzSims.ea.com.

9. SimDay
Written on Thursday 5 August 2004 at 21:57 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
As usual it's SimDay on thursday. This week there is a link to the ninth designer diary at GameSpot, and its screenshots have been posted as well. There's also a mention of the URBZ focus group, which we mentioned at URBZDay. A n interview on the official site's BBS is also highlighted. It's with TheSidDog, whose album Wasteland is highlighted as well this week. Read both Part I and Part II for the interview. Two other small things are a new poll on the official site, as well as a community update. Last but not least, there are two new NPCs to be downloaded. If you have SuperStar, go to the Get Cool Stuff / NPC section to download Bon Jovie (235 Kb) and Richie Sambora (230 Kb). That's all this week.
