31. Open for Business T-Mail 2
Written on Saturday 17 December 2005 at 03:08 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
One of the last, if not the last, T-Mails of the year has arrived. Tim LeTourneau, Senior Producer for the Sims 2 expansion packs, has given an update on the upcoming expansion pack Open for Business. He says that the team just hit a major milestone (he doesn't say which one exactly), and that there's now a lot of tuning, polishing and gameplaying going on. Included are two screenshots and a 37 second movie. Besides that Hunter Howe, designer on the team of the expansion pack, gives some insight in what goes on behind the scenes and how things work, using several constants. He also mentions business perks, which are rewards for the business owner when the place is running well. All those bits can be found in the Read More part of the newspost you're reading now. For the screenshots, click the thumbnails below, or follow the links to the movie if you wish to see that (QuickTime required).

Maxis has again released a few new campaign videos on the official site. Five videos (of which three are brand new) have been posted on the videos page, bringing the grand total of videos so far to 13. We've also received information that there are 20 videos in total (10 for the US and 10 for Europe). The videos are also projected on buildings in various American cities, multiple TV channels, and stories can also be found in magazines worldwide. Besides all that, a video in which players explain the basics of the game has been published. You can see the About The Sims 2 video as well. More stories can be found on the Sims Played By website.

As the download links on that page are incorrect, we've mirrorred the videos on our server so you can also download them. Use the links below to get them (QuickTime required). Bigger versions of three new screens posted on the official site have been put at GameSpot. They're now also below (click the thumbnails to see the big versions).

The Sims is getting a lot of attention from EA's marketing department now its release on consoles, handhelds and mobile is nearing. The latest thing that's been released on the official site is a developer walkthrough for the console version. Alex Hutchinson, lead designer for the game, takes 8 minutes to show off the game. It shows the most important sections of the game, starting with the neighborhood screen and CAS. After that he goes ingame, and shows almost anything you'll need to know to see what the game is all about. Split screen mode, for two players, is also shown during the video. After a while the unique food creation system is covered extensively. Even controlling ghosts and going back to the living world is mentioned at the end. The video is pretty big, 55Mb for the high resolution version, and can be streamed or downloaded from the videos page.
