Written on Friday 12 May 2006 at 04:09 by ChEeTaH - 19 comments.
As announced here earlier, the next expansion pack for the Sims 2 on PC is going to be all about pets. Due to the Internet connection not working at the hotel yesterday, the pictures here are a little later than expected... but they're here. Just click the thumbnails below to see the big versions of the pictures. Although the quality isn't too great, it does show the theme and the logo. More images and a video can be found on TheSidDog.com, and in an E3 line-up video of Electronic Arts at their media center you can see short clip showing artwork of the expansion pack.

Written on Tuesday 6 December 2005 at 00:17 by ChEeTaH - 1 comment.
Tim LeTourneau, senior producer of the Sims 2 expansion packs, has sent a new community update today. He has the news that "Open for Business" will be the official title of the third expansion pack for the Sims 2. Until now it was only known as a working title. Tim tells why Maxis chose to make the business expansion pack, and the first two screens and a movie are included as well. Besides that there is also some more information about the features of the pack. There will be over 125 new items in the pack, with which you can make shops that sell products ranging from clothing, electronics, and toys to flowers, baked goods, robots and more. For more precise details, read the product page at EAPlay (thanks to SimTimes). 4. New Nightlife Trailer and Official Screens
Written on Friday 23 September 2005 at 01:25 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
The expansion is out, but still EA is releasing some promotion material for the Sims 2 Nightlife. In the form of screenshots and a trailer this time. The trailer is a short clip showing a dinner date, and can be seen on the movies page on the official site. The screens come from EA UK, and appear to be new, contrary to screenshots posted earlier this week, which were actually old (the specific newspost has been edited now). As these screens are official, we don't want to keep them from you even though they can be made by pretty much anyone with the game now. Click the thumbnails to see the large versions.

6. New Sims 2 Movie Contest
Written on Tuesday 26 April 2005 at 02:42 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
EA has organised a new movie contest for fans of the Sims 2, and it's a big one. They encourage people to make short movies using the ingame tools of the Sims 2. The competition is held together with the USC School of Cinema-Television. You have to create a clip featuring the day of a life of a student. The prize is a big one - you can win $5,000 (yes, 5 grand), or a four-week associate intern position at Maxis. There's only one of these to give away. Runners-up can win either an nVidia powered computer without monitor, or one of three nVidia graphics card (GeForce 6600GT). The last three will be the ones who are best in either the Comedy, Drama or Documentary genres.

If you're planning to join in, first it's wise to make sure that you're in the US or Canada. You also have to be at least 13 to be allowed to participate, and at least 18 for the associate position. The judges will decide on Story, Character Development, Art Direction, Originality and Music, each of which counts for 20% of the result. You need to have both the Sims 2 and the Sims 2 University according to the rules. You have until midnight at 30 May (PST) to submit your entry. You can read the full set of rules, and some tips. The winners will be announced after the contest ends. Good luck if you're participating!

You can only use in-game sound or your own voice, and the spooky tunes that were made available last simday. Entries may be up to 2 minutes long and must be submitted through the MySim page followed by filling out a form. 9. Developers look back on Sims 2
Written on Tuesday 12 October 2004 at 02:15 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
GameSpot has posted a new movie (called "Developer Interview 3") in which the Sims 2 team looks back on the development of the game. Included is a feature which describes the time at the Maxis offices a week before the release. Most developers took some well-earned vacation time back then. The article also mentions the "Up-Against-the-Wall Wall" which has all notes with red "Done" stamps on it. There's also a bit about the future:
"On one section of wall, there are clippings and articles from much of the mainstream press coverage that The Sims 2 has received. On another, there's a graph of the number of bugs in the project over the course of development. And there are already gaps in the walls--Maxis is preparing to make room for the next big thing. But Bradshaw won't reveal what that next big thing is. With a polite smile, the executive producer says, "There's so much territory that we can explore with The Sims." That's about as much as Bradshaw, or anyone else at Maxis, is willing to divulge at this point, though fans of the series can certainly expect that the sequel leaves room for future expansion."
You can read the 3-page looking back feature, or just watch the movie.
