Easter Bunny Stuff Pack Announced [Update]
Written at 10:23 by ChEeTaH - 3 comments.
Today EA announced a new stuff pack: Easter Bunny Stuff. Just over a week before easter, EA has announced this latest stuff pack for the Sims 2. With the delay for the Sims 3, fans complained a lot about the long time between the last pack for the Sims 2 (Mansion and Garden Stuff) and the release of the sequel. Tim LeTourneau, producer of The Sims 2 and the first couple of expansion packs, has taken some time off MySims for the Easter Bunny Stuff intermission. In the press release he is quoted: "Fans are dying to get more content for their Sims 2 games from EA. Easter Bunny Stuff will be a great addition to fill just that need, with new characters and special foods." The pack is said to contain roughly 60 items, among which are Easter Bunny clothes and new breakfast meals: boiled egg, traditional eggs benedict and chocolate easter egg. Furthermore you can find lots of colorful decorational items in the pack, combined with a new "Hide and Seek Easter Egg" interaction. Of course, Mr. Easter Bunny himself will also make his appearance. Time to decide is short: the pack will be in stores next week, right in time for Easter.

[Update] Of course all of the above is fake, an April Fools joke by us, SimsNetwork, DMS2C, SimParool and Sims3Nieuws. Don't rush to the stores next week to get this pack, you won't find it. And the screenshots below? Staged, thanks to Sims unclogging toilets in Bunny suits. We hope you had a laugh, even a Maxoid fell for it!

Will Wright leaves EA for Stupid Fun Club
Written at 21:07 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.

Will Wright and EA today announced that Wright, creator of SimCity, The Sims and Spore, will be leaving EA. He will focus on his Stupid Fun Club. Originally a group of hobbyists (Will and some of his friends), the Stupid Fun Club had fun with robots and toys, even being featured on NBC with a Candid Camera short about a sad robot. Now Wright will continue the club as a professional organization. The club will develop new intellectual properties for video games, movies, television, the Internet and toys.

Wright and EA have not completely left each other though: both parties own an equal percentage of the club. Ideas developed by the Stupid Fun Club can be developed into games by EA, which probably means we haven't seen the last of Will Wright in the games world yet. Lucy Bradshaw and her team at Maxis will continue to develop and expand Spore, while the Sims Division at EA will continue to create Sims games as they have done for the past couple of years - already without Wright. According to an MTV Article no game projects are currently in development by the Stupid Fun Club. Check out the Stupid Fun Club Website for more information about the "think tank".

Play Sims 3 May 4th
Written at 21:30 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Roughly a month before the Sims 3 ships, 40 people in the UK (age 16 and over) can get to play the Sims 3 for a 2 hour period. EA UK is holding a competition in which you need to send your motivation to play the game. The hands-on sessions will be held at HMV Gamerbase in London and Manchester on May 4th, with 20 people at each venue. If you're in the UK, at least 16 years old, free on May 4th and ready to travel to London or Manchester at your own expense (no travel or food will be covered by EA), then enter the competition. If you win you can bring a friend, though you'll have to share your two hour slot for the Sims 3. All the rules are in the forum topic.

Written at 00:00 by Rosana - 0 comments.

Grant is talking about movie making in The Sims 3:

"The Sims has always had an incredible community of movie makers. A quick Google search will return thousands of hilarious and touching videos made with our lovable Sims. Unfortunately before, The Sims 3 players didn’t have an easy way to make movies. That changes now!"

The Sims 3 Demo - KEEP WELL AWAY !
Written at 23:00 by Andy - 0 comments.

Just in case you have not seen other simsites with this warning, we are giving you it here. As much as we would like there to be one, there is NO Demo program for The Sims 3. If there would have been a demo for it, it would have been announced through the official site.

Various places out there are trying to coax curious players in to their website with the fake promise of a Demo. When you click the link, attempts will be made to hack and otherwise mess with your computer.

Thanks to simprograms.com and simoperations.com for this news.

After some tinkering with files on a Sims 3 Introduction CD, we managed to get some exclusive files for you. You may have seen these screens before, but not without any items covering it. Together with our affiliate SimsNetwork you can now download the Sunset Valley panorama from the introduction CD in 2 parts, in their original resolutions. Part 1 of the panorama is here at the Sims Zone, for part 2 head over to SimsNetwork. Furthermore there are two other screenshots that may not be entirely new, but haven't been seen separate like this before. Enjoy them, and please link back to us if you mention these on your site or forum!

TS3 Online features officially announced
Written at 15:37 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Although not really new, EA has issued a press release today about the online features of The Sims 3. A Sims 3 store where you can purchase new items, similar to the Sims 2 store, will be launched with the game. The game itself will ship with $10 credit for that store, good for 1000 Simpoints. Afterwards credit can be purchased in batches of 200, 500 or 1000 points. The launcher of the game will use the Internet to promote the official website, showing news and information, the store, promotions and more. The official site will be relaunched and become the full hub for sharing items, stories et cetera of the Sims 3. Major part is the video creation tool. You can take videos from within the game, and edit them online, similar to the (closing down) Sims on Stage. The best news from all this is that a second neighborhood, Riverview, will be available for download from the website at the launch of the game, 2 June on PC, Mac and iPhone. Read on for the full press release.
