SimDay: Unleashed announced
The big news is here: The Sims Unleashed has officially been announced. Also, the first details of this new, and probably the last, expansion pack for The Sims are in the same press release. The rumours about the pets were right:
"For the first time ever, the Sims can visit a pet store and bring home a variety of creatures and accoutrements. Players will make a big splash with the addition of a lumbering Labrador or fickle feline to their Sim family. They can also buy a parrot, turtle, lizard or fish that are fun for the whole family but don't need to be house trained."
But, there's a whole lot more to look out for...

There will be more social interactions, the garden will be more important as gardening will be introduced. You can grow crops, and sell them at a local farm market - or let your sims eat those vegetables. There are mice and other 'unwelcome' animals that might ruin your garden, but the pets might help that. Besides all that, the expansion pack will give you 5 more career tracks:
"Sims can enter the exciting world of fashion, become a culinary genius, take care of the neighborhood's pets as a trustworthy veterinarian, teach others as a noble educator, or simply run away and join the circus."
For the cooking track, there's also a nice new theme: the New Orleans French Quarter. There will also be 30 new lots - my guess is 10 houses, 10 downtown lots and 9 vacation areas, and maybe another one extra - where you can send your sims to. We'll see what it looks like later this year, in a couple of months. The only problem is: who looks after the pets when you go on vacation, or will they come along? You can read the full press release here. There are also two screenshots, here (114 Kb) and here (95 Kb).

There is also a bit of other news though: a chat event about The Sims PS2 will be held tomorrow (Friday 12 July) at 3PM PST (midnight in the UK, 1am in Europe). If you are product registered on the official site, you can visit the chat room here. This game will be released later this year too. That make the current (official) release list of Maxis games for this year: The Sims Unleashed, The Sims PS2, The Sims Online and SimCity 4. Besides that, Sid Meier's Sim Golf is scheduled to be released this week in Europe, nearly 6 months after the US release.

I thought a pets expansion pack would be boring, but it actually sounds pretty exciting. I can't wait for it to come out.

It'll be coming late september or (early) october. I guess Europe will be one week behind on the US as usual.

I would just like everyone to know that I am changing my internet name to Tiger, as I am getting weird mails. I am very annoyed about this, and whoever is doing it, please stop now.
