MySims DS Previews
After having seen various previews of MySims on the Wii in the past, some previews of the DS edition have now also appeared on the web. These originate from the EA Summer Preview event held in May, and probably the producer tour in Europe. Besides previews with some of the first details of the game, there are also some videos to check out. Read on for all the details.

The first preview we have is from GameSpot. They tell about the setting - a resort town - that you'll need to furbish up by running errands for the townspeople. They'll attract tourists, and as you progress through the game you'll unlock items including furniture as well as new areas to explore. Minigames are a major part of the DS game, and they include blackjack, racquetball and fishing. The type of racquet or rod you pick will influence the game, and fish caught during fishing also have multiple uses, including selling and cooking. Tourists may come up with questions for errands or pictures during the game as well. As for customisability, GameSpot tells that you can specify different designs for different areas on clothing, like the front and back of a T-shirt. The only downside is that the camera angle is small, resulting in a less good overview of the town. For the precise details check out the full preview.

The second site, IGN DS, has pretty much the same to tell. They also introduce the run down resort town, which needs your help through mission based goals to attract more tourists. Planting trees and feeding local wildlife are some of the mentioned tasks. Finishing other mini-games etcetera will unlock items and clothing pieces which will not affect the game directly, but does allow for more creativity. They too explain the fishing game further in-depth, saying how you'll need to guess both lure and movement to catch a certain type of fish. WiFi connection is limited to sharing textures and designs and unlocked mini-games. The preview has two videos with it as well.

Gaming site 1Up comments, like its colleagues, on the visual style resembling Animal Crossing. They also say it's mostly a more trimmed down version of the Wii game - not just graphically, but various gameplay elements have been scrapped and limited as well. They also mention that the world is not persistent - there's a day/night cycle but it's not real time. Put the game down for a few weeks, and your town won't be infested with cockroaches either, you can just pick it up and move on where you left off last time. Bringing up a secondary map on the top screen or not being able to zoom were things that put 1Up off, as the game was too zoomed in to be very well playable. Read the complete preview to see what they have to say for yourself.

Finally, website Pro-G has checked the game out in the UK, They start off by saying that the DS game doesn't focus on customisation as much as the Wii version does. The mini-games seem to have a little more variation and detail to them than the usual slew of Nintendo's 'Games for everyone' that come packed with mini-games. The emphasis of the customisation as far as it is available seems to be on outfits rather than buildings and furniture like the Wii. The full preview has some more details.
