Survey Revealed EP ideas
Last week the official site briefly had a survey online, most of which was about the last expansion pack, Open for Business. The first half of the questions was about how you heard about OfB, what you like most about it, etc., but after that a couple of possible expansion pack concepts where given. Whether Maxis is planning to make one of these, or perhaps already making one, is unsure, but it's very well possible that one of the ideas will actually be made into an official expansion pack. Of course pets are mentioned again, as well as the returning vacation idea which has appeared in previous surveys as well, albeit a little different, and this time mentioning weather as well. Other ideas are about taking Sims back in time, a new hospital in town, expanding on the youth years of the Sims, seasons (including neighborhood changes and weather), and castaway Sims on a tropical island. Finally there's also a somewhat different idea, which is much like an adventure game as seen on handhelds before: something strange has happened in the neighborhood, and by socialising you need to figure out details of the puzzle to solve the mystery.

Besides the concepts, several new features were given of which a couple could be picked as favourite which should appear in a future expansion pack for the Sims 2. Plans for the Next Generation consoles - XBox 360, Playstation 3 and Nintendo Wii (known as Revolution earlier) - also seem to exist, as one question asked about interest in a game on one of those consoles. So far no details of new console games have been announced though. The eight expansion concepts and 27 features are all in the read more bit of this newspost.

Expansion pack ideas:
  • Take your Sims on a trip back in time! Drop them in a fantasy neighborhood where they can live like royalty or enjoy the simple things in life. Build a masterful castle and enjoy enormous feasts with your Sims' new friends or work on a small farm and grow crops for the townspeople.
  • Something has happened in the neighborhood and it's up to your Sims to solve the mystery! Socialize with other Sims all over the neighborhood to put the different pieces of the puzzle together. Will new clues lead your Sim to new rewards or dead-ends?
  • Create the perfect pet for your Sims to train, play and love through life's great moments. Create and breed unique dogs and cats and give them personalities. Your Sims can also train their pets, teach them to do tricks, or get them a career in show business or security.
  • There's a new hospital in the neighborhood and your Sims are keeping the neighborhood happy and healthy. Choose a medical specialty including medicine, physical therapy, surgeon, or psychiatry and tend to other Sims who are ill. Heal the patients and determine how the relationships between the doctors, nurses, and patients unfold. The actions your Sims choose may affect the health and happiness of the whole neighborhood!
  • Enjoy the best years of your Sims' youth! Dive into the world of your Sims' kids from birthdays, playground antics, and slumber parties to building tree-houses and forts, sports practice, and prom night. Forge special lifetime friendships with the new kids in the neighborhood.
  • Take a break from your Sims' daily home routine and hit the outdoors for some fun! All-new seasons and weather provide your Sims with a variety of year-round activities including snowball fights, fishing, gardening, sand volleyball, and more. Build your Sims dream home to take advantage of each season from winter cottage to summer hideaway, just beware of unpredictable weather!
  • Your Sims are celebrating the seasons the entire year! Plan parties for any time of year whether it's fall harvest, first winter snow day, summer picnic barbeque, or spring concert. Watch the neighborhood change as each weather system rolls in and use the all-new party planner to create a variety of celebrations for your Sims to mingle, mix, and party.
  • Your Sims are castaways on a tropical island. Build a new home in the rainforest and work with other Sims to forage, farm, and fish. Design new furnishings for your Sims as you create their new life in paradise.

I like the first one, "take your sims back in time." I like all of them, but I would only buy the sims 2 for the PC if it got the equivalent of makin' magic.
