HSN: The Sims 2 (Consoles and Handhelds) Videos
After yesterday's footage, there are now several more videos of the Sims 2 on consoles and handhelds. There's also a video interview from GameSpot with producer Scot Amos, who talks about the console version of the game (PlayStation 2, GameCube and XBox). Read on for all the details and information about the videos.

In the interview Scot tells about the direct control objects, which include a metal detector, fire extinguisher and a vacuum cleaner. He looks back at E3 and what's changed since then - the direct control objects are new. Scot says they were nervous at the E3 about direct control, as the Sims is typically a point-and-click type of game, and not one where you directly control the Sims. You can even control ghosts now, without being stopped when trying to walk through an object or wall. There are now 12 lots the story takes you through, all designed exclusively for the console version. You'll recognise stuff from the PC game, like aliens and such. There will be 350 brand new objects in the game, which is to be released this fall. You can stream the video for free from the GameSpot media page. It's posted under the title "Gameplay Movie 2."

The interview also includes some ingame footage, part of which can be seen in three other videos posted on the same page. The first shows the start of the game, and the start of some socialising. What you can notice there is that, as you start socialising with a specific sim while in direct control, the environment becomes blurred. Video 2 continues a little later in the game, and shows searching and watering a couch. The third video shows the main character losing a game against a rooster alarm clock, and she wets herself. The metal detector is also shown here. All three videos are one minute long.

As said there are also videos for the other versions of the game, except the one for mobile phones. First of all there are three one-minute gameplay videos for the PSP version. The first one shows an early stage of the game, where Bella Goth reveals her secret. Mamba Loa, who gives you an aspiration, is also introduced. The second shows some line dancing, where your Sim has to join in a line with others and dance along. The final video shows a bit more socialising, and some of the possible interactions. It also shows the patience meter, which after it runs out means the end of the conversation. These three videos can be found on the Sims 2 PSP media page as Gameplay Footage 1-3.

Next up is the Nintendo DS, for which there are two videos, also of one minute each. The first shows the options in CAS, and what seems to be the start of the game. The second shows some creative outbursts: first making a tune, then a painting, all using the touch screen of the DS. As you might expect, these videos can be found on the media page for the DS version, as Gameplay Footage 1 and 2.

Finally there's the GBA version. There are also two videos, again each of one minute, for this version. The first one shows some big ladybugs and pesticide. The second shows a bar after which you're followed by a big can of King Chug Chug Cola. You can guess where it is: on the GBA media page, under the names Gameplay Footage 1 and 2.
