where under the maxis folder can i find pictures that i took from the game?

try looking in My Documents/My Pictures

With Sims 1 you would go to:

C:\Program Files\Maxis\The Sims\UserData\PhotoAlbum

UserData being the Neighborhood that you are working on.

UserData would be Neighborhood 1
UserData2 would be Neighborhood 2
and so on.
