What is all the differences apart from the 3d thing and the age thing?

That now the Sims when they babies their child will be mixed and have the DNA of the mother and Father, Also that Now you may be able to build 5 story houses!!! Also the camera mode has change and now the sims have wants and fears and they also can remember some of their life experiences

A lot will be different. It's the same concept, so of course there will be similarities, but this will be something entirely new.

To start with, there is all the generational stuff. This means that there is a "time limit" on your Sims. So now, you will actually have to help them accomplish their goals instead of just saying "meh, I can do it later."

Also, the focus of the game is entirely different. While in Sims 1, it was all about fulfilling basic needs (such as hunger, hygene, sleep, etc..), now the focus is on higher needs, such as feeling good about yourself, getting a new job, taking care of your wants. So it is no longer about what you "need" but rather about what you "want." This may not seem like that much of a shift, but it really is. Psychologically, it's worlds apart. But also in terms of gameplay, it means whole different strategies, whole different ways of succeeding (or failing).

Also, Sims will now have "personalities." So instead of Sim A whose FUN personality bar is full maybe not getting along too well with Sim B whose FUN personality bar is completly empty, Sims will actually have destinct personalities. They will think for themselves to an extent. They will be able to tell you what they want in life, in their house, in their jobs, etc...

Sims now have "memories." Remember in Sims 1 where a wife could see her husband die in a fire and then just clean up the ashes and carry on as though nothing happened? Well, that won't happen anymore. Now, if a wife sees her husband die in a fire, it will be all she can think about for a while. She may even get nightmares because of it. She will certainly be very afraid of other people she loves dying and of fires. Also, while in Sims 1, a couple would get "married" and all it would mean is that they now live together, in Sims 2, marriage actually means something. For example, Sims will not be able to marry more than one person at a time. Also, if a couple are married, they won't mind their spouse walking in on them while they are in the bathroom, things like that.

Sims will be able to recognize their family members. So now, if you create a brother and a sister (say in Sims 1, you created them as adults but wanted to pretend they were teens), they won't just start falling in love and making out. They will understand that they are brother and sister.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg. There will be all kinds of differences in decorating, the way the community is handled, yadda yadda. I could type all day!

if you care, this is the time for each generation. i got this one straight from the programmers mouth, 100% correct

Baby: 3 days, Toddlers: 4 days, Children: 8 days, Teens: 15 days, Adults: 29 days, Elders: 11-31 days. (ps, after this you are dead)

some other stuff is that sims are now aware of there surroundings, like they can carryon more than one conversation with more than one person at a time, if there is something exciting like a proposal or a fight going on, people will pay attention to it. also you can contiously change your sims appearence with the "mirror" which lets you put on makeup (for both boys and girls), change your hair style, add, remove glasses. pretty cool huh?

also sims can teach each other things like if one is a scientist with an asperation for knowledge and is somewhat successful in that path, he/she can show another less experiance sim how to do it. also on the topic of learning, you can also be taught things like cooking by watching certain chanels on the tv. The TV is a lot more detailed and for instance can have console games played on it, and even goes into so much detail that if 2 ppl are playing a console game, the game is played split screen. also with the attention to detail, when chess is played this time, it will actually follow the rules of chess, and the better the player, the better and more educated the moves. you can zoom in so close as to actually watch the game. This is the same with the console game.
There are more lots, around 50 so that you can own multiple houses, gay ppl can actually get married, there are aliens, when you select an action there are sub actions such as if you select kiss you will be given the option of; up the arm, Smooch and others. this is the same with all actions.
