On System Requirements, does 256 Ram mean system memory that came with computer or can it be installed Ram?

I believe that means how much memory it needs.

You need at least 256 Mb of RAM in total. You can check the amount of RAM you have by going to Start -> Settings -> Control Panel. Open "System", and near the bottom of the "General tab" it will say how much ram you have.

256 RAM is much i have it on my computer but there are a lot of people that dont have it the sims 2 requires a good computer

Basically, a generic measurement of RAM, like "requires at least 256MB of RAM" means that you must have at least that much installed. This includes physical sticks of memory and possibly virtual memory (a Windows innovation.) The DOS command "mem" will reveal a lot about your installed RAM.

It's not really a Windows innovation, UNIX had it since version 1.0 (which was out long before Windows 95, which was the first Windows version to use it properly). Installed RAM can be found using Windows though, using the method I described above (often easier to read since DOS as far as I remember shows it as KBs instead of MBs). Also, I'm not 100% sure if Windows NT (2K/XP) still has the mem command...

Windows XP still have the 'mem' command. I just tried that before
