Building The Garage
Cars

Two cars. A red one and a blue one.

Cars are purchased in Nightlife from the Buy menu. The cheapest one is 950 simoleans which is cheap but the car looks like something that once went NASCAR racing. Still, beggers can't be choosers.

Just buy a car and dump it on the driveway as shown. It can only go one way as Sims insist on reversing out into the main road. Without looking! And without seat belts! Woe betide the sim who reverses into the path of an oncoming articulated lorry.

The Garage

A Sims garage. No WD-40 in here thank you very much.

From here a garage is simply constructed by wrapping a standard wall round the extension piece. You can decorate it with wallpaper or whatever in the normal way. Note that you cannot put items on the floor of the extension piece. So don't try it. Ever. Or we'll send Mortimer Goth round.

As you can see from our screengrab, we've put some windows in and a couple of lights and some wierd new object from Nightlife. The central divide isn't strictly necessary but considering how one can have WooHoo in a car, it kind of makes sense really.

One can also put a roof on the garage. In fact if it's constructed correctly, it can join onto the side of the house and share its roof.

Parking

You can leave the cars on the driveway if you want. But since we've made a garage now, let's put the cars in there.

Just press F2, click the hand, click the car and move it as per any object into the garage. There you go, Bob's your uncle. Therefore when Sims next use the car, they will park it in the garage. And the doors open automatically so no need to worry about that.
