IGN Previews Pets
Along with several other websites, IGN has published three previews of the Sims 2 Pets. One covers the PC and Console (including PSP) versions in one, the DS and GBA each get separate previews. Altogether there are 4 pages of text for you to read about the upcoming Sims title. Read on for some of the key highlights mentioned in the previews.

The first preview, PC and Consoles, is two pages long, and may be a bit confusing as to about which game each part of the preview is about. They start off saying how, probably on consoles, you have to pick either an occupied or an empty lot to start a family in, after which you head into Create A Pet. There are many options to create your creature the way you like it, for both looks and personality. The Chewing and Scratching needs for dogs and cats are also mentioned, with the note that not taking care of them isn't good for your furniture or flowerbed. On Consoles again, you can take your pet to the town centre, where you can purchase pet items and toys. Once you buy an item, the store might grow offering more objects for your Sim to buy. Finally IGN mentions Animal Control picking up neglected animals, as well as paying attention to them and training tricks. Read the complete PC/Console preview for details.

About the DS version IGN tells that you have to play a vetenarian, which you start off by creating a Sim and his or her pet. The game uses the stylus for pretty much everything, for example to control several medical instruments like the X-Ray or stethoscope. There are three areas; the clinic, your home and the park. Tasks like cooking are mini-games, using the styles as well. There are 11 mini-games in total. Sims from the town will come to bring pets to your clinic, which you'll have to treat - with a maximum of 3 at a time. While taking a break and walking through the park, you might also need to help some other Sims with their pets. Finally Wireless support allows you to trade objects and pets. Check out the 1-page DS Preview for more details.

Finally there's the GBA version, which is set in Barkersville. Rather than creating a pet here though, you'll need to purchase one. You also have to pick one of four careers to go through: vet, pet walker, pet trainer or a pet psychiatrist. You have to take care of your own pet as well, interacting with it through one of the five mini-games. You'll own three properties in the end, which can be decorated using 150 objects, including toys and accessories for your pet. It's not as in-depth as the other versions, but might be just enough for "the animal-lover on the go." More details are inside the GBA preview.
