how do u take stuff out of the zip folder?

You have to drag it into the appropriate folder in My Documents/EA games/The Sims 2/Appropriate folder. For example if you have a new bed you put it in the "downloads" folder. It may need to be installed with the package installer. To do this just double click on it.
