Knowledge - Question
I have Sims 2, a brand new Dell 2.6+ and the game freezes at 23%? I have tried everything available to me from sims support, read everything available. Assistance would be great! Thanks.

This is a known problem with some of the CD units that Dell have started putting in some of their machines. In fact a quick Google puts the blame squarely on one drive unit.

The SN-308B model, a Samsung Combi drive, seems to be the cause of the problem. Updating the firmware seems to solve the problem, though this of course is not guaranteed.

I had this problem on a Dell laptop but with a Philips drive, not Samsung. The solution I found was to disable DLA (in the CD drive properties, there is a tab for DLA). Then the install completed fine.
