I re-installed Sims 2, and now when i load a family it wont work! It gets as far as lighting up all the squares then it stays on the same screen 4 ages, and a popup appears saying "the system has crashed"

Don't play that family, it probably has crashed. Start over and create a new family or play with a different one, that's really the only way. If it does that to every family, uninstall it completely, so there isn't a trace left on your harddrive, and then install it again. If this doesn't help I'm sorry, I don't know what else to do. that keeps happening 2 me 2. First i had sims 2 university on n it happened with every family on it so i had 2 keep making n deleting families. real pain cos u cant eva create a whole network. then i lost the university cd so i been playing a while just on sims 2. worked amazingly but then things kept disappearing on screen and today its gone back 2 crashing when i load a family. i think im gonna go crazy! grr
