Seasonal Life
Simone's Diary - The First Few Days

Simone Midwinter has kindly lent us her diary to share her experiences of moving to Riverblossom Hills.

Dear Diary

Well, we've finally moved in. Jonah and I saw this house in the Hills and it looked as though it was in our price range. So, we did not hesitate, paid the going price for 115 Riverbend Road and quickly moved in. It is a semi-furnished property and left us enough money to customise it by adding a few things of our own.

The weather was chilly when we arrived. After all, it is like our name. Midwinter. Once the newspaper arrived, Jonah checked the forecast and it said light snow was expected.

The lot size may be small but the garden is lovely. It has a lemon tree, vegetable plots and a large pond to the rear. However, the Garden Society didn't seem to think it was up to much. One of their people came over to visit and when I asked to join, she summoned some of her friends over. I thought it would just need a seasonal subscription to join them but I was wrong. They then checked the place, made some recommendations but ultimately rejected us. How rude.

Anyway, I fertilised the vegetable plots and Jonah planted tomatoes in them on the afternoon. There were two snow showers during the day but snow did not settle.

We had a few of the locals come over and welcome us to the neighborhood. There were a lot friendlier than the Gardening Club and they stayed until almost midnight. It is nice to meet new people but we were glad to see the back of them. Jonah and I were asleep the moment our heads hit the pillow and we slept very soundly.

The next day, Jonah was up first and immediately was up and out doing the gardening, tending to the tomato plants that had got a bit overgrown. It was while he was in the garden that he noticed that the pond had frozen over. It was a shame as I was looking forward to cooking some fish. There were a few more snow showers and this time, it did look as though they could be starting to settle.

Today, I managed to find a vacancy in the newspaper for a Playground Monitor. As my lifetime wish is to reach the top in the Education Career, it is a good start. However, unless there is a major thaw, I doubt that I will be getting to school tomorrow. We are in whiteout conditions. There has been a really heavy snowfall this evening, although it does look as though the roads are still accessible.

Let us see how things develop.
