Sim Brother Series 4, Day 47 (Tuesday 24 May 2005)
Creative Differences
Previously in SB4

The housemates have found out what their new task is and have been left to their own devices to come up with a professional performance. Can they come up with a unified focus or will they split up before their first performance?

It's Day 47. It's Sim Brother 4.

Forming Up

The remaining three quickly decided what instruments they wished to play.

John immediately claimed the drums and said he didn't want to sing as that would guarantee them failing the task.

Alyssa wasn't too confident on being the lead and opted for the bass.

Steve was with the guitar. After jamming into the early hours, they found that they did have some rhythm and could perhaps have the makings of a group.

Early Hours

4.00am - Alyssa was still asleep in the bedroom. Steve and John were already awake. Steve had chosen to fill in his time by using the telescope that Dr. Phil had provided them with for passing the astronomy task in the first week. John, however, was focussing on the task at hand and was in the practice room on the drums.

The Band Play Karaoke Classics

11.45am - After a brunch of cheese & onion toasties that Steve prepared, the housemates were back practicing. To give them a focus, Sim Brother was piping in music that they had sung before from the karaoke task from a month ago. The different tracks did give variety to the style of music they were playing, although playing "There's No One Quite Like Grandma" to a rock beat was quite a bit of a challenge.

Brainstorming

10.00pm - After a dinner of chilli con carne that John prepared, the housemates went back to the practice room. After playing for about an hour, they sat down to talk about what sort of band they were going to form.

Steve - I want to go for a country band. I'm sure we could do a great version of Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport.
Alyssa - I don't think so. I think we should more be looking at R&B or hip-hop.
John - I was thinking more of a rock band myself. I think I've got the hang of drumming.
Alyssa - That would work. I like the sound of that.
Steve - So we do a rock remix of Tie Me Kangaroo Down, Sport?
John - That's more something Rolf Harris would do than us.
Alyssa - I'm with John here, hon. Did Sim Brother say we should do a new song?
John - Yes. Something topical. That means something about our time in here.
Alyssa - A rock ballad?
John - Precisely.
Steve - Ok, guys, you've sold me the idea. You write it, I'll sing it.
Alyssa - Shouldn't we all write it?
John - That's a much better idea.
Steve - Ok, I've got an idea about the tune.
John - Go on, this sounds good.
Steve - You should all know it. How about an upbeat Waltzing Matilda?
Alyssa - You're getting back to tying up kangaroos again, Steve.
John - Thinking about this one, it's a well known tune and with a fast rock beat, it's silly enough to just work. And I think I've just thought of a title for our first hit.
Alyssa - Oh?
John - No More Evictions
Steve - By crikey, that's a ripper idea!
Alyssa - And we can work on a verse for each housemate?
John - Steve, you work on a fast rock beat, Alyssa and I will work on the lyrics. Palin and Idle were better at writing songs but I'm sure we can come up with something original.

To Be Continued

And that is where we are going to have to leave them. They have two more days until the task is evaluated and only three more days until the series winner is crowned.

Tomorrow, Dr. Phil will be showing us the studio and going into the house itself to meet our final three.

Don't forget to cast your votes every day in the right sidebar for which one of the three below you want to see as the winner. It is very close right now and every vote counts. Polling closes on Friday.
