SimsShorts UK Movie Competition
Written at 17:13 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
EA UK has recently launched a film competition, in which anybody can enter with their favourite short Sims clip. Make a story with the game and film it using the in-game cameras, then you can use an online Sims movie maker to mix some clips and create a film. Experts can use their own software and mail their movie to EA. The main prize is having the clip shown in 58 Vue cinemas in the UK throughout December, as well as £1,000 cash. Perrier award winning comedian Ben Willbond is one of the judges who will rate the videos and pick the best. On the website SimsShorts you can view details, terms and conditions of the competition. It runs until 10 December, so you have to hurry to get your film submitted in time. Only mailed entries in certain formats (see the terms) are eligible for entry for the main prize. Go to SimsShorts for more details.

Pets Bloopers
Written at 00:20 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
In every game and expansion pack many bugs are introduced during the development process. Although most of them are ironed out by the time the product gets released, some will stay in the memory of many developers. Like Maxis did earlier for the Sims 2, you can now see some bloopers that became visible as the Sims 2 Pets for PC was developed. Four screenshots show things that shouldn't be possible in the game. Go to the Bloopers page to find all of them.

Sims for Wii Details
Written at 00:24 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
A while ago EA announced a new Sims game in Japan. This time the game will be for the Nintendo Wii, which was recently released. Although EA has not yet really revealed much information about the game, there are some tidbits to find. First of all there's an article from a Japanese magazine, of which the scans were posted on GoNintendo. They show some graphics of the game, besides what's most likely a preview. Several actual screenshots were posted by Dengeki Online as well, showing the characters in further detail. Finally there's also an official site, in Japanese, at Boku-sim. This site features four screenshots and a teaser video.

The most remarkable about the game is that the graphics are much like the popular game (on Nintendo platforms anyway) Animal Crossing. Nevertheless it's definitely a Sims game, as confirmed by a post on the official site as well as the EA logos on the Boku-sim website. When the game will be released is not known yet, but of course we'll keep you up-to-date with the info. For now check out all screenshots below. Go to Boku-sim for the teaser.

The Sims Stories Revealed
Written at 00:38 by ChEeTaH - 0 comments.
Although rumours have been floating around for a while now, The Sims Stories has been announced today. This is a new product line of the Sims, which will be focused mostly on new players who are not yet too familiar with the game. The games are not compatible with any expansion or stuff packs of the Sims 2, but each game will be a standalone one. The main new features consist of a story mode, in which you follow a Sims' linear story as The Sims Division made it, but also its laptop-friendliness. The first story you'll play will be that of Riley who returns home to start a new life with new friends and experiences. The second story, which comes with Life Stories as well, is that of Vince, "a love-struck high-tech whiz who's been unlucky in love so far." You can continue their stories after finishing the linear mode in the classic freeplay mode. The games will have special hotkeys to make controlling the game easier than before. By default the game will also run in windowed mode, so you can switch back and forth to your IM or email programs easily.

So far three titles have already been announced: Life Stories, Pets Stories and Castaway Stories. Life Stories will be released January next year, followed by the Pets stories next summer. Castaway stories will be out in the winter of 2007/2008. Whether more story titles will follow-up Castaway is not yet certain. As the games are separate from the Sims 2, they will get their own website and community, and content from the curernt exchange will not be available for the Stories series. Of course we'll give you more information of the game as soon as we can. For now head over to the info page and check out the logos below.

EP5: Seasons Announced - Preview Pending
Written at 01:19 by ChEeTaH - 2 comments.
When Pets was released there was already a flyer of the fifth expansion pack included in the box. The title "In Season" had been revealed a little earlier already, but now the definite title of expansion 5 for the Sims 2 on PC is known: "Seasons." Seasons will get your Sims outside of their house, introducing them to weather and seasons. The pack will also include six new careers and other requested features like gardening and more. A few screenshots and artworks have already been revealed on the official site, where you can also find some product information. In Europe the pack will be released only on DVD, like with Pets, while in the USA it'll be on CD. The Sims Zone has also been allowed to see the game in action last week, and so you can expect a special exclusive preview of the new pack very soon. For now you'll find the screenshots, an artwork, the logo and the packshot here, stay tuned for more!
