"The community lot also serves a practical purpose: it's an excellent place for gathering, so when a Sim converses with another Sim and they strike up the topic of pets and both happen to be a dog owner, their relationship gets a nice boost. By contrast, if your Sim has a parrot and begins discussing Big Bird with a visitor who owns a cat then the relationship goes down a grade."

It also mentions the gardening a bit, slightly more detailed than most previews I've read before. At the end there are two numbers - 125+ new items, 50 jobs - and the conclusion that because of that it'll be a giant success. Unfortunately, we can't tell you that for sure until late September or early October when this expansion pack will be released.
