The Sims 2 (Handhelds) Video Interview
There have been several video interviews in the past, and this time it's GameSpot's turn again, which has interviewed Virginia McArthur regarding the Sims 2 on the handhelds (PSP, DS, GBA and Mobile). In the six-minute interview she skips through all these versions, while you get to see some (partially new) in-game footage. Read on for details from the interview, or just download or view it from the media page.

Starting off with the PSP version, she tells the start of the story, and how the Strangetown neighborhood was more or less put on to the PSP, as well as Bella's secret. Virginia also mentions the new "battle socials" which you can use to unveil secrets. Perks and Potions might help you there too. There will be five unlockable locations, including Bella's home in Strangetown, which you can decorate to your liking. There will be 15 unique PSP-only objects to help you with that. At the end of the game you'll also find out the biggest secret of Strangetown. Sims can also be traded to other people's games over Wi-Fi, so you can get your Sim into the game of somebody else. On the other game they will become NPCs which can be dated and eventually move in as roommate.

Next is the DS version, which makes heavy use of the second screen, as well as other capabilities of the DS. Again the basic story is told, like how you get to the hotel and find out what to do with it. There again will be five locations to unlock. Over Wi-Fi you can trade music you made, and using the microphone you need to clean out the vacuum cleaner by blowing into the mic.

The GBA version is a different story again. This is where Daddy Bigbucks lets you play through 15 episodes. One episode can be unlocked by having two GBA's connected. The two Sims can then join each other, and play multiplayer mini-games. Besides that there are Sim-commercial mini-games, which are necessary to make money for Daddy Bigbucks.

Finally there's the mobile phone version, which is again a lot different. With the biggest of three versions, you'll be able to update content and download your Sim from the Sims 2 to your phone. This requires an internet connection. Also, rather than buying objects, you'll have to trade them with NPCs.

Downloading or streaming the video requires at least a free GameSpot basic account. See the media page for the necessary links.
