Kids "Make Cake" Charm - It Doesn't Work! I Always Get Toads, No Cakes. Why?

I've been wondering this myself, no matter what I do, I always end up with a bunch of toads on my lot lol.

I've consulted with many online Makin' Magic simmers by now, and we've all agreed on the same thing: it's impossible. The charm, or so we believe, was meant to work with similiar conditions as the adult charm for making an instant feast, but to no avail. Remember that the adult charm, in order to work, requires that the caster be no more than half full on the hunger bar. No matter what the hunger level of the child, though, the charm doesn't work.

According to the strategy guide, this charm, the "make cakes" charm backfires when the child caster's hunger motive is more than 80.

Also, the corresponding adult charm, Horn Of Plenty, is supposed to backfire if the caster's hunger is more than or equal to 80.

According to this Game FAQ document (click the bold), this Cake Magic charm for kids does not work. It is a bug in the game, it looks like it will therefore always generate toads.

I agree with the upper answers, but have something to add: I tend to use the toads you get by the backfire of the "make cakes" spell. First of all my dragons love to play with the toads (and kill them)..
I also let my adult sims kiss the toads loads of times to get toadsweat for free. Just wanted to let you know.

I have found a solution (or however its spelt) For the Make cakes charm for kids you have to be Extremely Hungry and have at least five logic points and be an A+ Student if you dont fit the criteria you get the toads!!

Be that as it may, that is then dependent on how the game allocates the kid sim points, because there's no way in the game itself to alter the number of logic points for kids.

As far as raising a kid with a high Logic rating, I've heard (and somewhat experienced myself) that a child will have high attributes based on what they've been raised near. So when that bassenet of joy comes along, place it close to say, a chess set or chem set to have the baby develop good logic skills and grow up magically inclined....

Okay, this is what the child charm "make cakes" is. Well, Maxis says that it is not really a cake charm. But if you read your fairy tales, you will know that if a princess kisses a toad, it will turn into a prince. Well a female Sim can randomly kiss toads, then eventually she will get a prince. It works best if you have the move_objects on cheat so you can get rid of the toads you already kissed. Some times it works and some times you need to do this two or three times or more.

But becareful of what Prince you get though.... Some are real nice, but some are just lazy and evil!

I had to kill one of mine because it was being mean to the family, but I used the spell again and got another one.

I found that if you use a charm over and over again the chances of negative backfire are reduced,I have cast the make cakes charm many times with good results.

ok hi everyone!!!

now we all know that most of the time, when we do this spell, we get alot of toads. now most of the people i cunsulted said that it's not supposed to work and only give toads.BUT that is wrong. the spell only backfires when the caster (your sim) has their hunger bar filled more than 80%. THIS ALSO HAPPENS WHITH THE HORN OF PLENTY CHARM!!!! so, it's not a fake spell so keep castin' and ya'll be good!!!!!!
